In Response to Re: Reasons for registries in addition to BBB?:
One is fine. I understand that BB&B treats brides very well, and is huge, but I don't like shopping there, for myself or for wedding gifts. But I'm strange. Posted by ElisabethJoanne
I don't think you're strange - I don't like shopping there either. The entire experience just always overwhelms me and while they do carry many high-quality items they also carry a lot of low quality items... I don't want to have to sift through it, so I'm not registering there.
OP, you don't have to have more than one store, but in you're situation I would probably advise two. Out of 10 or so posters you have at least 2 that don't like shopping at BBB, and it may not be local to everybody.
Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, and Williams Sonoma all carry exclusive items that can't be found in other stores. Of the three, Crate & Barrel is by the far the least expensive, with very high quality items.
Or, like PP mentioned you could go more upscale and do Bloomingdales or Neiman Marcus - they both carry housewares that are pricey but unavailable at regular department stores or BBB. I think Macy's is also more upscale than BBB and they have a pretty large line of items that are Macy's exclusives.... and if you have a Macy's credit card and enroll in their program, you get 10% back on everything you spend until your wedding date and 5% back on everything your GUESTS buy off your registry. That can add up if you play your cards right.
And finally, I would like to recommend Amazon. While not EVERY guest may be internet savvy, most people are these days, and lots of people love amazon, love free shipping, and love that they will get 3% back if they have an Amazon credit card. Plus you get an insanely huge selection. That said, Amazon doesn't do completion discounts so if that's something you're into (and you're not doing Macy's or a place with a better discount... Kohl's and Dillards both have better completion discounts than BBB), keep the really high ticket items at BBB.
