Hi all
I apologize if this was asked recently but I couldn't find a similar situation in the last few pages of posts.
My shower is in two weeks. The other day, I received a shower gift in the mail. I opened it to make sure it was intact, etc. and was ready to write the thank you note. However, I have since found out that the givers are actually coming to the shower. I had assumed they were not coming and had kindly sent a gift anyway. Given that they are coming to the shower, should I write a note now, saying "thank you and can't wait to see you at the shower" or wait till after and say "thank you for the gift and for coming to the shower"?

Always open gifts right away, and send the thank-you note right away.
They probably thought this would be another favor to you - one less gift to pack up for the trip home from the shower.

It's always nice to get a thank you note ASAP after sending a gift in the mail, anyway, since you are never sure until then that the giftee received it!
