 So my fiance's aunt is throwing me a shower. I want to have a lingerie/honeymoon apparel shower, but she doesn't feel comfortable throwing me a shower like that. My fiance and I have registered at Bed Bath and Beyond for stuff for our house, but we don't really want/need very much. We don't even have enough items on there at this moment for just our wedding, let alone for a shower.... What should I do?

 If you really don't think you have enough items on your current registry for a shower (I assume you are preferring cash), then I would tell your fiance's aunt you would just prefer a get together, or you can turn down the shower altogether.

 Donations aren't a good idea in case people don't agree with the charities you pick.  How many things do you have on your registry?  Maybe you can add enough so there is something for everyone invited to the shower to buy?

 If you won't decline the shower, then you should register for more items. I suggest going through your home to see if there's anything you'd like to upgrade or decorative pieces you'd like to have.

 We have already registered for everything that we want... At this point anything we add will be stuff that will be the first to go when we have a garage sale or whatever. I guess I'll just pad the registry...
We have 92 items on our registry. 100 expected guests to the wedding and 20 to the shower. It says to have twice as many items as guests... At least 15 of the items on our list are high dollar items that only close family members will get us.

 Whoa whoa wait.  You have 92 items on the registry?  You can have a 20 person shower.  And don't worry about twice as many items as guests.  That's just a business tactic.  You're fine.

 It's possible you have enough items. We had 100 guests and registered for around 200 items (a lot were small items under $5). We received less than 100 gifts and less than half of those were given at the shower. A lot of people gave us money at our wedding.

I would say leave your registry for now. Check on it between the shower and wedding and add things later if needed.

 If you're worried that you don't have enough items on your registry and don't really need anything, it can definitely be just a luncheon or some other type of get together rather than a gift giving event.

 92 items is more than enough.  Most of your guests are likely couples and will give a single gift so even if 100% of your guests shop off the registry you're fine.

ETA: The 2x your # of gifts is a sales tactic - no one wants to shop off a 20 page registry.

 Asking for money in any form, even for charity, is a faux pas.

You've got enough items on your registry for a shower.  You can also suggest a tea party, barbecue, luncheon, brunch, etc., or something else instead of a shower.
