Hi J&K!  I have seen a few posts on here where you talked about the OCM and based on your info and a few blogs I've read I decided to give it a try.  I did it for the first time last night and so far, so good.  :)  My question is: How often should this be done?  What I've read online is conflicting, some say "regularly but not too often" others say every day.  What do you do?  Thanks so much!

I've read posts by people who have been doing it for a while now and they only do it once or twice a week. I've been doing it for two weeks and after the first week, I started doing it every other day because it was making my face just a tad oily. I may need to switch oil types though. I'd say if your skin likes it, do it everyday for a while, then try doing it every other day. I think as your skin gets better, you can do it less and less.

Thanks for the input!  I was guessing that my skin could handle every day because it tends toward the drier side of things.  So I guess I'll play it by ear.  :)

What do you do on the off-days when you're not using OCM?

I use Oil of Olay Foaming Cleanser Sensitive Skin, it's oil free, which seems counterproductive but the combination of the OCM and Olay works for me.

I just bought oil today and will be starting it tonight!

Maratea - do you wear makeup everyday?  Do you take it off before using the oil, or does it come off fine with oil?

I do wear makeup everyday and the oil takes it off, better than most other cleansers I've used, in fact.

I do it every day.  I was nervous to do that (I've always needed acne products), but then I sort of figured when I wasn't doing it every day, it was kind of counterproductive to use harsh products.  So I tried some Cetaphil on my off days, and didn't like that either.

So now I do it every day.  My skin did get worse for a couple weeks after I started doing it daily, but now it's so much better!

Thanks so much!  I'm really excited about this.  I don't really have horrible skin, but it tends to be dry with lots of blackheads (especially on my nose) and lately I've been getting some cystic type acne on my chin which is very painful, so I'm hoping this works.  Also, I really like the idea of not using harsh chemicals and knowing exactly what I'm using.  :)

Thanks for the heads up about your skin getting worse at first, now I won't freak out when it happens.

This is exactly what my skin has been doing.  I don't know if it's the super hard water in my apartment building, or just that I'm getting older.  I was using a benzoyl peroxide treatment, but it wasn't very effective if I didn't use it twice a day, and it bleached everything my face touched.  If I DID use it twice a day, I'd usually have clear skin, but it would hurt and I had dry patches everywhere.  Basically.  I turned 25 and my skin was like, FUUCK YOU.

Yaga, I have to say it.  I LOVE your siggy!  That's got to be the best "Hey Girl" I've seen.  It cracks me up every time.

I just turned 24 a couple weeks ago, so maybe we're just at that age and our skin is turning on us.  *sigh*  Here's hoping this method works!

Good luck!  I hope it works for you :)

Another thing that might be helpful for the cystic stuff (which absolutely blows, I know it!) is honey.  Raw, organic honey is best.  I warm a little up in the microwave and spread it on my face about twice a week before I get in the shower, get in the shower, do my thing, rub it in, and then just splash it off, or wipe gently with a washcloth (the steam makes it come off really easily, no worries).  Honey has natural anti-inflammatory properties.

Thanks J&K!  I actually found the honey mask thing a while ago (Pinterest is definitely my friend.  lol) and have been doing it regularly.  It really does help, you're right.  :)
