I may be a little on the early side for this worry, but how are you ladies with the strapless dress handling tan lines? I rarely wear strapless in the summer (not work appropriate) and end up with tan

I may be a little on the early side for this worry, but how are you ladies with the strapless dress handling tan lines? I rarely wear strapless in the summer (not work appropriate) and end up with tan lines. What are you doing to avoid this?

Thanks!

I got a spray tan to cover mine.  I also stopped walking outside at lunch every day over that summer leading up to my November wedding so that they would fade some.

Try sunblock to avoid lines when your outside or wear light weight long sleeve shirts.

I know I'll get tarred and feathered for this, but I started tanning in the spring for my fall wedding. Then I would always wear sunscreen when I was outside to prevent any areas from getting darker. *ducks*

Hahaha, I'm usually against fake-baking, but I'm seriously not excited about having to worry about tan lines all summer until my wedding. The first few days of warm weather are the worst for creating those too! I don't see too many options, other than wearing long sleaves all the time or hoping that spray tanning won't leave me orange.

SIGH!

Versa spa spray tanning (available at most Desert Sun locations I think) seems to give the most natural, non-orangy tan in my experience.  I would say sunblock is best for mulitple reasons, but you will still tan through sunblock (as a melanoma survivor, I use sunscreen religously and I still managed to get tan last summer, depsite trying to cover up--ended up with a sports bra tan line.  yuck).  Lightweight longsleeve shirts are really good, and I would seriously give the whole spray tanning thing some consideration if you don't want to worry about tan lines.

@Raes,  as someone who is trying to get my state to pass tanning bed bans for minors, I can tell you that I would never tar and feather a grown woman for choosing to tan.  But if I ever met you in person, I'd show you the scars that melanoma left me. :)  12" on the right side of my body, and pock marks from biopsies (12 different biopsies and counting).  I tanned in beds when I was in high school, and I was diagnosed with melanoma when I was 26 years old.    But, like I said, anyone who wants to tan makes their own choice, just like anyone who smokes.   Ok, preaching over.

I don't know if you wear a watch, but if you do, that was the hardest tan line for me to deal with.  Just another thing to think about.  :)

My wedding is in April, so I think mine from last summer should be faded. I have really no intention of going to a tanning bed or laying out beforehand, but I also wouldn't judge someone who did fake tan for this reason, especially if they never go otherwise. Yeah yeah I know that it's not good even if you go once, but still. Tanning=smoking, IMO. Not my place to judge. Totally on board with the nobody under 18 thing though.

I just said what I did because a lot of times when someone posts on this board about fake-baking, a bunch of people jump on their soap boxes. I also like to compare it to smoking. I understand the risks (my mother and grandfather both had skin cancer) and feel that I can make an informed decision. I started using a tanning bed because I have severe psoriasis that was seriously affecting my life, and the UV rays from the tanning bed helped a great deal with my symptoms.

raes, I also have psoriasis.  Do you take any meds for it or just do the UV light therapy?

I also take methotrexate. I tried pretty much every topical treatment possible, and none of them helped. It hasn't cleared up completely, but is significantly better.
