Wedding Party

Bad Planning

This isn't wedding party related, but one of my bm was invited to a friends wedding for this weekend. It is in Colorado (where they both live) and is outside. It is snowing there now and is suppose to snow this weekend. When my bm called to make sure they is an alternate site, the bride told her there is a building on the grounds, but it doesn't have heat. My bm has a 4 month old, so has decided not to attend. Talk about bad planning! First, Colorado is cold in October! It's sometimes rainy/snowy in October. Why would you not have an indoor alternative with heat!

Re: Bad Planning

  • Thats totally crazy I would not attend an outdoor wedding when it is snowing. Are they insane?
  • This works both ways brides! In the summer, if you want an outdoor wedding, be prepared to bring in A/C units. In the winter, if you want a 'rustic' wedding, bring in heaters!
  • Yeah ... I don't think I love anybody enough to go to their outdoor wedding in Colorado this time of year even if there was no chance of rain/snow day of if there was no "heated inside". Then again, I believe in being warm when its cold out, lol.

  • My mom lives in Colorado, she's seen heavy snow from late September all the way through early June.  My sister's October wedding near Denver was bright and sunny, but both venues were indoors, and I don't think she ever considered an outdoor venue.I think that if it snows, that bride will be seeing a LOT of no shows.  Be sure to update us next week with what happens!

This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I just checked the forecast for Sat. in that area. High of 35.

  • She's crazy for planning an outdoor wedding, period in that area this time of year.  My aunt and uncle live just north of Colorado in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and when we went to visit them in July we saw snow.  I mean, is the entire wedding going to be outside, including reception?  That's insane.
  • I agree that she is crazy. I was married in that area in July and I had a more thought out bad-weather plan. The ceremony was in a church but the reception was in a covered outdoor paviollion. So if it rained, we were safe. They could close the sides if the wind picked up. If it was extrememly hot or cold, we could use the indoor ballroom. And since it was in the summer, we had ceiling fans and the pavillion was in the shade of the hotel. I was determined to be comfortable.

  • The wedding venue in Colorado doesn't have a warm alternative to an outdoor wedding in the middle of October? lolwut?Perhaps people are are just used to being chilled to the bone? Or perhaps they are hoping a run on pneumonia will help the economy somehow...

  • Love doesn't warm anyone up that much.Unless you're making the love! OK... TMI
  • Seriously?  DH went on a camping trip with an ex GF and he refers to it as the 'coldest sex he's ever had'.This was all LOOOONG before we even dated.
  • I went to a wedding last year in late October in Boston. It was in a tent, and freezing outside, but inside the tent was toasty warm!!! Can she rent some space heaters?
  • Our wedding is in Southern California, and I refused to be at the mercy of the elements--even with mostly perfect weather year round.  Indoor, indoor wedding with easy access is the best way to go in my opinion.
