Are uneven sides okay? (Yes!) Can you kick out a pregnant bridesmaid? (No!) Ask the toughest wedding party questions here.
It is a bad idea to have my bridesmaids find a style of dress that they like in white, and then bring them to a tailor and have them custom dyed? I Just havent been able to find the right colors

Different fabrics dye differently. You'll have more luck choosing a line of dresses and having them choose a style. Many bridesmaids dress lines have over 40 colors.

This sounds like it could get expensive, and probably won't come out how you expect.

How about choosing some fabric from a fabric store and having them made?

What color are you seeking?
Most bridesmaids dresses are made of polyester.  It does not take dye well.

I wouldn't do that just because it could wind up all over the girls if they sweat or get it wet.  Also as PP have mentioned different fabrics and textures will take the dye differently.
