I'm wondering what you guys would think of receiving this as a bridesmaid gift...

Right now I'm cross-stitching a piece for each of my Jr bridesmaids. I was thinking of expanding that out to include all my bridesmaids. These will be a huge time vacuum but I think it'd be better than just giving them a totebag that they probably won't use.

These are the two I'm doing for my Jrs:

I was thinking of doing more from the same series. They're coming together fairly quickly. I'd just pick each BM's favorite Disney characters from the series (Cinderella, Snow White, Bambi, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Beauty & the Beast)

Would you appreciate a cross-stitched, framed piece as a gift?

To be completely honest, I wouldn't want that.  But I'm also not that into Disney, and I wouldn't want to decorate with it.

But it doesn't matter what I think.  What would each of your bridesmaids think?  Remember that you don't have to give them all the same thing, so if this is the kind of thing that one or two of your bridesmaids would really appreciate, go for it for them, and think of something else for the rest.

You have a really good point. I know at least two of them would love it, but the others I'm not really sure about. I've also given some of them cross-stitched items before (back in high school), so I don't want them to go "again?" So I may just plan on creating something for the ones I know would love it and hang it up, and come up with something completely different for the others.

That sounds like a good idea.  With the amount of work you're going to put into it, you don't want your efforts to be underappreciated.

Just remember that art work is subjective. 100 people can look at the Mona Lisa and have 100 different reactions to it, good and bad.  I regularly cross-stitch and crochet.  They make great, inexpensive gifts.  That being said, I don't give the things I make to everyone.  Cross-stitch is an artform that some people do not dig.  Cross-stitch pieces can be very hard to find a home in someone's decor, especially when you are doing something niche, like disney.

I would skip the framed disney piece for the adults.  Based on the fact that you don't know how some would like it and that you have already given  cross-stitch to the other two, I would go in a different direction.

A possible solution would be to cross-stitch a tote in a snappy design, but again, art is subjective. Maybe do generic x-mas ornaments, bookmarks or towels.

I totally agree with this. Do these girls really like cross-stitch? Are they really items that they'd put up in their home? I would rather go with something that is a sure thing. Most BMs put a lot of time and effort and money into weddings. I would get them a thank you gift that you know is going to be used and appreciated rather than something that *might* work. Most adults that I know wouldn't want a disney cross stitch in their home, even if it is very well done.

Personally, I wouldn't want it for a gift. First, I'm not that into disney and second, I wouldn't even know what to do with it. I'd probably save it and hang it in a future daughter's bedroom if I have a girl. Although, I think you need to consider your friends and their tastes/personalities. I can think of people who I know that would love that as a gift.

I'm not into Disney, but I would treasure the gift because my friend took the time to make it for me.

Well, I do know 4 of my 5 bridesmaids are very into Disney, so I'm not as worried about that. However, I've been thinking it over and I want to do something that's a little more unique to them so that it's very clear I was thinking specifically of them when I picked out the gift. I'm still intending to do something homemade, but it will be a little more unique - just not sure what yet! Also, by not burdening myself with a huge bunch of stitching projects, I think I'll reduce my own stress, lol.
