pay for maids hair?
Are uneven sides okay? (Yes!) Can you kick out a pregnant bridesmaid? (No!) Ask the toughest wedding party questions here.
I'm trying to decide on whether or not i want all the maids hair up... any thought? IF i request them to have it up I'll pay for it otherwise... they can do what they want...

Yes, it is proper etiquette to pay for the BM's hair if you are requiring them to have it done. If you are leaving it up to them whether it is pro or not, then you don't have to pay for it.

My personal opinion on BM hair is that it is much easier and better for them to let them pick their own style. Everyone has different hair in a different style and different feelings about what they are comfortable doing. I think it also looks a little odd if they are all complete 100% clones of each other. If it were me I would leave it up to the individual BMs to pick their hairstyle. You don't have to go by my advice by any means, but if you go with your original idea, make sure you pay for it.

I agree. I don't trust anybody with my hair except my stylist so I always suggest letting BM do their own hair. Not to mention my hair takes 2 hours to curl by a professional, if one stylist was doing mine plus 3-6 other girls hair I'm pretty I wouldn't get a good do because of time.

Absolutely you should pay if you require them to have it done.  Even if you aren't asking them to have the same styles, but still want their hair done by a professional, you should pay.  I'm the kind of person who rarely spends more than $30 on a haircut, so I would never get my hair professionally done for any event other than my own wedding... and possibly not even then.

Does the BM dress have some sort of special neckline, back design, or other adornment that you are worried may not be seen if they wear their hair down? Are you just worried about them being hot? Those are legit reasons to ask them to wear their hair all up. If you just want them to do it "just because" well then I don't really get it.

I know I hate having all of mine up, and even if you offered to pay for my services, I'd still try and talk you out of it because I don't feel comfortable with all of mine pulled back. I have a round face and I feel that it makes my face look bigger. I really prefer to wear my hair down most of the time, at least half up/half down.

My advice is just let the BMs wear it however they choose, whether you pay or not. Seriously no one but you is going to give 2 craps about how the BMs have their hair done (well other than them, obviously). Unless someone shaves their head or has a mohawk, I really don't forsee any fuss.

I am letting my BMs wear their hair however they want, but I want them to have it professionally done so I've already made appointments for hair and make-up and will be paying for all of that.

I made the offer to pay as a treat so they didn't have to worry about doing their hair on top of everything else that's going on that day. No special requirements on style, just a way to relieve some stress.

I don't know...seems like a nice gesture to me. I'm sure they would appreciate it. Just don't make them look like clones...that might build some resentment.

I think dictating your friends' hairstyles, no matter what the occasion is straight up crazy and super controlling. Don't do it.

I've been a BM many times (noone ever told me how I had to wear my hair) and the bride never paid for my hairstyle. However, the hair appointment was never mandatory. Basically, in most cases, the bride let us know that she was getting her hair done by X and X place and if we were interested, we could book appointments too. Since I find my hair always looks WAY better when done by a pro, I usually opt to get it done. And am happy to pay my way becase it is my choice and I get to decide what style I have.
