I also got married this past October. I put mine on ebay and got half of what I paid for it. Otherwise it'd still be sitting in my closet, and would have been the next 80 years!

I got my dry cleaned and preserved. Maybe someone else will use it or maybe it will be in the box forever, I don't care, lol.

I donated mine to Brides Against Breast Cancer.  I figured that was a win/win for everyone involved.  A bride will get a chance to buy my dress for less than retail, their money goes to a great charity, and I get a tax write off.

I got mine cleaned and now it's sitting in a huge box in my parents' basement. Honestly, I saw on a TV show once (forget which one), someone had their dress framed in a HUGE frame and hung it in their hallway. But they were rich and lived in a mansion. I would LOVE to do that but it wouldn't work for me.

I also considered doing a Trash the Dress session. I haven't ruled it out for the future, but for the time being, it's just taking up space :(

I really want to do a trash the dress photo session, we live about 20 minutes away from the beach and I always wanted a beach wedding. We are getting married in a Catholic church so a trash the dress session on the beach would be awesome!!!

Just don't tell my mom as she paid for the dress!

i saw a great idea that you can make little baby baptism/ baby dedication dresses out of your wedding dress.  I like that idea...

I'm having mine altered into a tea/cocktail dress that I hope to use on our anniversary.  I want the extra fabric to be turned into a bolero jacket or a cute purse for my daughter/niece/DIL in the future.

It's preserved & sitting in the closet in my basement.  It doesn't even have a "window" that I can look at it.  I should have tried to consign it.

Wow, I always thought that TTD was for women who get divorced (sorry, not trying to offend!), like, you want to say "screw your ex", so you destroy your dress? I am clearly way off base...

I want to make a quilt out of my wedding dress and give it to my future daughter/future daughter-in-law.

I am not married yet, but I plan to make a few hankerchiefs from my dress that I can give to my children on their wedding day. Then I am going to go avting through the mud in my dress along with two of my future sis in laws. I can't wait for that, itll be so much fun.

Same, since BABC won't take it back. I bought it from them and they have a timeframe of what year the dress was made to keep with most fashion. Mine was on the a year too old.

My FSIL made her daughter's baptism dress out of her dress.

Also, not all TTD sessions ruin the dress. From my understanding, you can get the dress cleaned and it is like new. Most people do it for a second chance to wear the dress and for the awesome pics.

I feel like trash-the-dress is wasteful and selfish. There are plenty of brides who can't afford nice dresses, and you're wrecking yours for the hell of it? You could consign it, sell it on eBay, or donate it to charity where it could actually benefit someone.

IMO If I'm going to spend money on a dress, and I am because we are paying for pretty much everything, I'm going to do whatever the hell I want with it and if that means having a blast TTD then bring it on! I plan on having a fun TTD with my daughter, at my hometown lake. FI/DH will be there to obviously but were going to play in the edge of the lake, roll around in the grass have a picnic with it and finger paint on it! It's going to be so much fun, almost as exciting as picking it out! Hahaha

Well my husband wants me to get into it again so he can replay the wedding night again cause the first time he was a little tipsy. Other then that i am torn on what i will do, I will probably end up keeping it for some time.

Since it is close to prom season, get all of your friends together that have gently used wedding and bridesmaids dresses.  Set up a station somewhere and donate the dressess to girls in your local area so they can have a great prom.

My wedding is next month, so I like the ideas of making it into a different dress, or using some of it as a baby's dedication outfit (blessing), or possibly sharing it with other family members or donating it.

I am not going to trash it....someone else could be blessed to have it, once I am finished with it...but to each his/her own.

My dress was an upcycled vintage dress, handmade by a local designer.  Because it was made just for me, it feels extra special, and I'm having a hard time with the idea of trashing it (I love those shoots), or donating it (which I had always planned on).  I'm not planning on having kids to pass it down to, and I'm much smaller than most of my friends or younger cousins.  I love the idea of having it shortened to wear on an anniversary, particularly since mine isn't white or terribly weddding-y to begin with.  Great idea!  Thank you!  :)
