Hunger Games

I just finished the books and loved them.  I can't wait for this movie to come out I thought I would share.

I loved the books...tore through them in about a week, haha. I also can't wait for the movie. I hope it lives up to the books.

I need to read them! I have heard so many good things but when I read what the story is about it seems like I'll hate it.

Definitely give it a try. If you decide halfway through that it sucks, then screw it and try a different book. But it's worth a shot, it's a really good series.

I'm super nervous about the upcoming movie. Some film makers have tendencies to drit too far from the book and it loses it's spark.

I'm almost finished with Mockingjay. I'm obsessed!

As for the movie, I'm always really reluctant to watch movies made from books I love... I'll probably wait until I've heard reviews by readers to go watch.

I liked the first two but the last one was just not as good. That tends to happen with series unfortunately. They were quick reads and really good stories, though

Jacyee when I first read what they're about I didn't think I'd like them either.  It's so not what I usually read.  After the first couple pages though I was completely hooked & read all three in a few days on vacation last spring.  They're reeeeally good, very entertaining.

I'm really excited for the movie too!!  I hope they don't screw it up.  I like when I read a book, then watch the movie & it's just like I pictured it while reading, which doesn't happen very often.  Usually the movie doesn't do the book justice.

I got through all three books in three days! Oy vay!! Loved them...I could even read them again.

I too am totally looking forward to the movie.

At what age do you think it's appropriate to read them?

I loved the series. TBH I think the movie will be awful since it needs to be made for the age the books are geared towards. I wish HBO got the rights to it.

I need to read these.  I'm seriously lacking books, I literally just finished reading all 11 of the Sookie Stackhouse books for the second time since July.

It depends on the individual kid, as far as the minimum age goes, IMO. I would say, in general, I wouldn't recommend them to someone younger than 14, but if I knew the child could handle it, then I would go younger.
I know a 10 year old who read the books and loved them. She is very bright for her age and acts much older than she is.
