NWR: tattoos

Does anybody have one?  Did it hurt? I'm thinking of getting one, well DH and I both, and I'm getting nervous just thinking about it!  I want something very simple and small...the word "Love" in script.  I'm thinking either my right side or under my right inside ankle.  Any suggestions?  btw it would be first.

I have two. Tramp stamp I got the day I turned 18- Took 3 hours and was not that bad. I regret it so make sure you get it where you want it and what you want. Lucy for me I don't have to look at it. I also have on on my right ankle. It only took about 30 minutes -hear that spells out my last name "Valentine" That one was not bad either BUT ... it all depends on your pain tolerance. The shading part  I think is the worst. And one word of advice EAT before you go. My sis made this mistake and almost passed out in the chair.

I have three. Yes they do hurt esp. around bone. I have one on my inside right ankle and it wasnt that bad.  It feels like someone pinching you REALLY hard over and over again!!

Well, a tattoo is a series of needles puncturing your skin over and over and over... it's likely to cause some discomfort, if not pain :)I have four, and the one that hurt the most was the one on my upper back.  It's also the largest and took the longest amount of time, so that probably came into play.  It sounds like the tattoo you're considering won't take too long and won't need outlining-then-filling, so while it's likely to be uncomfortable, it should be over quickly.I don't really care for tattoos on the belly/hip/side, but that's totally a personal preference.  I have two ankle tattoos, one on my inside/lower arm, and the one on my back.

I have 2 tattoos. They hurt, I'm not gonna lie. But it's certainly not unbearable. The worst was on my shoulder blades, I think just because that was closer to bone. Don't psych yourself out worrying about the pain. The tattoo you're describing sounds like it'll take less than an hour - nothing to worry about!

I def will need to eat, I have a tendency to pass out...like the second day of freshman year and this year and the gynecologist.  I do want something small, so hopefully I can tolerate the pain, I don't do too well with pain :)  I'm really leaning toward the ankle now though.

I have one tattoo on my right shoulder blade.  It hurt a bit, but not unbearable.  I would suggest bringing a magazine or something to keep your mind preoccupied on something other than the needle.  I also agree with PP, I would stay away from a tattoo on your mid-region.  I think the ankle would be a much better choice as it's typically less prone to weight gain and stretching, sagging, whatever as you age, have babies, etc.

If you're prone to passing out, take a bottle of orange juice and some hard candies with you to help keep your blood sugar up or, in case of an emergency, help to get it up quickly.  And make sure the tattoo artist is well aware and that you're keeping him/her up to date on how you're feeling.

That's a really good idea.  I need to make sure to eat too, that is the common thread everytime I pass out.  Hopefully DH can take my mind off of the pain too! lol

I have several and I do not think that the ankle will be too bad. I have a small one on the inside of my ankle and it was not bad at all. The top of my foot was the worst (b/c of the little bones). I have a large one on my back and as they got to my sides it was really sensitive. I think the outline on my back was the worst. The one on the back of my neck was quick and not painful. Im sure you will be fine. The one on my foot is script "Gemini" and it took a whle 20 min.

I got one recently and it didn't hurt nearly as bad as I thought it would. I got it right inside my hip bone, right below the top of my pants. The only time I'd say it actually hurt was when she had to press hard on some parts to color it in. But honestly, I was really surprised at how much it didn't hurt. The worst part for me was washing it the first time. THAT was so painful that I passed out. But, I hadn't eaten in a while and I have blood sugar problems.

I have one on the inside of my right ankle, and while it definitely did hurt, the pain isn't unbearable. Just make sure you hold DH's hand or have something to squeeze when it gets to be too much! The shading part is definitely the worst. If you're getting a small one, it won't be too bad.
