FI and I live in MT. We're getting married in CA. Do we apply for a marriage license here and take it there, where the officiant signs it, then bring it back here? Or do we have to apply for it there where the wedding is taking place and file in that county?

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Yes to this one. You can go to that county's website and get the info I bet. We were going to get it the day before the wedding to get ours. If you need blood tests, you might need more notice.

What everyone else said. Make sure to check to see if there are waiting periods. Some state require you to wait 24-48 hours after you get the license to get married.
