A couple hours ago I got a phone call from an unrecognized number. I let it go to VM since I didn't know who it was. The person who called actually left a voicemail. It was my cousin who I haven't talked to in 12 years.

He's my dad's brother's son. I have very little contact with my dad's side of the family. My relationship with my dad was very strained and he passed away about 6 years ago. I didn't even know my dad passed away until more than 6 months after. This was the last time I talked to my uncle and my grandmother. Because my relationship was strained with my dad and his relationships with everyone were strained, I never knew that side of my family well.

My cousin was going through some of my uncle's (his dad) belongings and found my name and number. I can't believe he even had that information. His dad, unfortunately, passed away this past fall. He also found stuff of my dad's and pictures of my dad and I when I was little and wanted me to have them.

Of course, this made me cry and brings tears to my eyes as I write this. But, I am so happy to know I will be getting this stuff. I have nothing of my dad's. I have only about 10 pictures of us together and one bracelet he made me. He was a jeweler.

I've been thinking about my dad's side of the wedding so much with the wedding coming up, but didn't know how to find them. I didn't have contact information and my searches on-line never turned up anything. Now I can find everyone!

Good news is my grandmother is still live and kicking. I got her number and will call her once I have myself pulled together a little better. I don't want to instantly start crying the second I have her on the phone.

My cousin and I already added each other on FB. He said we are family and should be there for each other like family. I'm so happy. Emotionally overwhelmed and I think in shock. But, so happy. Oh, there go the tears, again. lol
