faerie-ish wedding, without going over the top?
If you're planning a wedding between September and November, here's the place to chat with other fall brides.
I'm just looking for some advice, and some help brainstorming ideas for a wedding with a subtle hint of faerie-ness to it. :) I've always loved faeries, and when I was little I would go every single y

I'm just looking for some advice, and some help brainstorming ideas for a wedding with a subtle hint of faerie-ness to it. :)

I've always loved faeries, and when I was little I would go every single year for Halloween as a "faerie princess". And now that I'm older and planning my wedding, my fiance and I would love to incorporate that feel into our wedding, without giving it a costumey, theme wedding aspect.
As in, I'd like it to feel whimsical and flowy and woodsy, with lots of flowers and maybe some glowy things and some sparkly things, so that it "reminds" you of faeries, without going into full fledged faerie overdose.

We'd like to get married in the fall, most likely November, and we've talked about our colors including orange and purple, (his favorite color is orange, and mine is purple). But we don't want it to be too dark and contrasty, so we're thinking about  lighter shades, like lavender and possibly gold. I also really love pearls, so I'm debating whether or not there is a way to incorporate those as well.

So, if anyone has any ideas, or dress/flower/hairstyle/anything else suggestions, I'd love to hear them. I've been google searching forever, but there seems to be a pretty limited amount of faerie wedding information out there, that doesn't include me wearing wings and my fiance wearing tights, which is NOT what we're going for haha.

Use tree branches and a lot of wood around the venue.

Pixie cut dresses, maybe not so dramatic as this, but you get the idea.

Use a lot of flowers in BM's hair, maybe pretty braids or wavy styles.

Your dress be flowy and same for your hair.

Your favors could incorporate fairy wings.

Your cake topper could be a fairy made for you on etsy.

Pick an outside venue if possible, maybe around woods or under a big tree decorated with hanging lights or something.

I'm probably not a lot of help, but I'm anxious to see how your wedding turns out!

Aww I love the tree branch stuff, and the hanging lights!
Those are all really helpful ideas, I hadn't even thought about the cake topper or anything like that yet, thank you so much!

I did a search for "enchanted forest wedding" and this came up:

I think it's beautiful!

That's really pretty! That gave me a lot of inspiration that it's something that can be pulled off haha. Thank you!

That theme sounds awesome!

Lavender, peach and leaf green would be nice for forest colors.

Try looking at forest/enchanted forest, fairytale and tree-themed weddings for ideas.  Little birds are woodsy common for a wedding theme as well, and moss or ferns in centerpeices would bring a 'fairy/enchanted forest' feel.

Also, have you considered using mushrooms?  I know it sounds a little strange but I always think of the 'fairy rings' I used to find in the woods as a kid.  Some people believe you can make a wish or seal a promise by stepping into them, which is very wedding-y to me, and evokes a general idea of fairies without being over the top.

Loose, informal arrangements of wild or forest flowers with ferns or fiddleheads and natural colored feathers would look great to carry.

You're going to need SO many candles or twinkle lights! :D
