My fiance and I recently got engaged and are in the idea stage. We first said I love you in October, he proposed in October, so I think October would be a great month. That being said I had always wanted a beach them but that's kind of out the door with an October wedding in Maryland/Virginia area. I have also always wanted purple worked in. So I was thinking purlple and ivory but now I'm stuck in trying to come up with a wedding theme. I'm better at planning when there is a theme involved, not just a color. Any suggestions or advice?

its quite hard to come up with a theme from colours, rather than the other way around as themes are supposed to be from something that inspires you, or the kind or feel/decor that inspires your wedding.
You could have an autumn theme with those colours still, or maybe a lavender/country theme. You could also have a peacock theme if you mabe add some teal blue and green.

You don't need to have a theme at all. Just plan around the color scheme you love and add touches that reflect you as a couple. We has subtle hints of our hobbies and passions; our love of photography, birds, video games, rock music, fall, and food, but we didn't have a photography, bird, video game, rock music, fall, food-themed wedding. We just planned a wedding with fall colors and touches that reminded us of the things we loved!

We are having our BIG DAY in October also... I fell in love with Eggplant BM dresses.. and Future Mr's fav color is LIME.. so we are doing those and working in little touches of FALL colors... The THEME is also hard for me so we are going around our colors.. So i dont think you should stress over it.. just have things u like... be comfortable with your style..

Ooh I love Jamilynn's approach to colours and agree with that wholeheartedly! Ccrockers, I'm also using purple: Mike and I had originally hoped for a spring wedding, so had gone for lilac, ivory and a darker accent of medium blue.
When we had to reschedule for autumn, I'm determined to keep lilac, or rather pale purple (iris and wisteria) as we'd already had to sort out bridesmaid dresses, so to keep it with autumn we've chosen pale purple with a deep red accent (i.e. pale purple dresses for the girls, with deep red wraps to keep them warm).
However because Mike and I hold a lot of history with things like travelling and writing, we're incorporating that in terms of choices of decorations.
Ccrockers, how's it going with your wedding ideas planning?

Im also a OCT Bride, I have for Years said I will hve a Fall Wedding, an being that my Fav color is Purple I just added it to everything.. If theres a certain style Wedding your wanting as a Theme Go for it. Im Doing a Fall/Vintage theme an just using the colors I love an trying to Find pieces that fit an that I love.. I would suggest you look threw some websites, an Mags, an just see What Exactly jumps out at you. Most "themes" can be worked around colors, an if you dont find one then just embrace your colors as a focus point.. Good Luck..
