I did a photo guest book from shutterfly, and have sharpies for people to leave messages in.

We might get a hardcover "coffee table book" (probably with full-page photos of places in New Jersey) and have people sign that. Otherwise, I think we'll skip it.

We're doing a photo guest book that came "free" with our photography package.

we are getting a guest book from our photographer of pics from our engagement session

imo, they are a waste of money.  i never sign them so it was never a thought for us to have one.

We didn't do one.  I hate waiting on the line to sign it and it's just your name, nothing else.  I saved all of the cards instead.

I did a photo guest book too.  I used walmart.com and it was reasonable.

my mom made a really nice album from our engagement photos (my dad is a photog and mom designs albums) it came out great and was a great way to use the pictures from the sessioni would say maybe 25 people signed it though! lol--definitely something that could be skipped.

I don't konw how much I would have been willing to pay for a photo guest book but I do like the idea because it gives you something to do with your e-pics since you can only frame so many. Plus with the photo guests book people tend to write a little note so it would be fun to read through those rather than a book that just had a list of signatures.

I'm skipping it. I don't really care about and know I will feel obligated to keep it and have it collect dust for the rest of my life.

Instead of doing a guest book, we bought a hockey jersey with our last name and wedding date on the back.  We are going to have everyone sign it then put it in a frame to hang up.  I never sign the guest books at weddings, so I wanted to do something different.

Im doing a sign in platter - the kind you bake afterwards and can actually use to serve - I figured it might actually get some use to it after the wedding

Oooh, Laurie, I can't wait to see pics of that! I actually just thought of something else that I've seen in a couple bios ... they sent out postcards as RSVP cards and left the front blank, then asked guests to draw a picture or use magazine cutouts to depict the cople (or write something if they didn't want to make a picture). Then the couple pinned them to a board and displayed them at the reception. It's actually in this bio, about 8 pics up from the bottom: http://januarybride.googlepages.com/marriedbio(and I LOVE LOVE LOVE her place card board as well)

Very unique! Haha, I was explaining about it to FI at a diner at midnight last night, and he wasn't getting it. Then I showed him the pic and he said, "It looks really cool, but I still don't get how to do it." Then he said we could have something like that as long as I handle it myself :P

That's funny...I can imagine a very similar conversation if I tried to explain it to my FI.

I'm also doing a photo guestbook, from shutterfly. or maybe snapfish. I can't remember which.I wasn't going to do it until I saw my sister's and the things our family wrote in hers. Then I was convinced to make one.

I'm into scrapbooking so I pre-cut some little 3"x4"cards and had pens for people to write a message on. I left 2 (cheapo) digital cameras next to them and everyone was instructed to write a message and take a picture. I didn't end up getting pictures of EVERYONE on those cameras, but I know I can snag some random ones from people's photoshares on my group album or from facebook.  I'm sure a lot of people forgot to sign too, but I love the result. I'm definitely saving the cards people gave us too....

We bought a fish bowl and scalloped note cards and asked guests to fill in advice for a happy marriage and then put the cards in the bowl.  We got some really fun and really touching messages. It didn't seem worthwhile to me to have guests just sign their names.  From photos, video, cards that came with gifts, and RSVP cards, we know who was there.
