Kansas Prosecutor Distributes Pictures of Rape of 17 Year Old, Gets 6 Month Suspension. In perhaps the most blatant example of double standards we've seen in a while a Kansas prosecutor has received a slap on the wrist in the form of a six month suspension for distributing child pornography. The case involves 17 year old was stripped by four males, one of whom then raped her while the others took pictures. Instead of prosecuting the offenders when the girl reported the attack to police Anderson County Attorney Frank Campbell declined to proceed because the girl had been drinking. Then he shared the photos with parents of other teens who had been at the party. If anybody else had distributed those pictures they would be facing felony child porn charges. In our view Campbell is guilty of distributing child pornography, the males who took the images are guilty of creating a possessing child porn. Too often the child porn laws are enforced in a random and capricious manner, such as when teens are prosecuted for consensual nude self portraits. This time the law seem to be going the other way, protecting a sick prosecutor who projected his own warped morals onto a 17 year old denying her justice and then rubbed salt in the wound by sharing the images. Where are the FBI in this? Rather than wasting time hassling legal producers of porn for 2257 compliance they should be prosecuting this idiot.
