hello, we are having our wedding 5-5-12 it will be at his familys farm back home with a barn in view and apple trees and pastures and horses.  Our 'theme' is birch trees and colors are brown plum and pink.

for the ceremony i was thinking of mason jars at the head of each row with purple and pink flowers, with a burlap bow around each jar, hanging from a shepards hook or the chair (not sure yet).  The "arch" will be made of small birch trees with two stands of iris' s on either side.

for favors i have burlap bags of coffee beans roasted in alaska (where we live) and homemade cherry jam in tiny jars with a square of  purple gingham fabric on top.

Rustic usually goes with fall, so I was wondering if these are cute ideas.  there will be lots of bright pinks and purples in the flowers to make things light, and also the cherry and apple trees will be in season.

please tell me what you think of these ideas!

Oh My Gosh! You stole my date;)haha
I love the rustic idea and have been torn between it and flowers.. I think you have some great ideas and I say it's our day and if we want rustic, we get rustic!lol (Sorry for sounding like a Bridezilla) But I think you have incorperated it nicely into spring, especially since it is on a farm!

1) LOVE the ideas
2) It is not strange, Im planning for May 2013, in a barn, at an old mill.  We happen to be doing a pale green and yellow, mostly because I wanted something to go with yellow because I love sunflowers, daisies and tulips that allll happen to be yellow (well, can be yellow).
3) Also doing mason Jars
..OK so im tired of numbering, we are using birch trees for our table #s (cut at an angle and will write the numbers in the cross section) and plan on giving away apple butter with green gingham tops as favors....

I might be using granny smith and golden delicious apples in baskets at tables with the mason jar flower centerpieces (dollar tree has some square dark brown baskets!) OR might make them escort cards and fasten leaves with their names on them.  Could do this with cherries and put names as flags off the stems.

CRAZY how similar we have thought!!

So in my very biased opinion, sounds beautiful!

Thanks ladies!! I am glad I am not the only one with these ideas!  Lauryn, you dont sound like a bridezilla at all :P  It IS my day lol and we are both rustic-y people, so it really is our style.
Ashlidie your ideas are so cool! Acually instead of a guest book or poster we are doing an angle cross cut of a huge birch tree on our property, sanded so it's smooth and have ppl write their well wishes on that. Tulips are in season so I will use those too.  keep me posted with your ideas, do you guys have IG?

Ha! Funny, I am actually doing something very similar just the day after. I am getting married 5/6/12 at Shady Wagon Farms...reception will be in a barn that is connected to an amazing outdoor pavillon. The only thing I could see that is "fallish" is I guess your colors of plum and brown darker and could sometimes associated with the autumn season...but with what you said about encorporating purple and pink flowers and birch trees..I think it will look just fine! Plus, its your wedding so if those colors make you happy, then GO FOR IT!  I am still considering my colors as of now...I saw a rustic farm wedding bouquet with all sorts of colors and a gingham wrap....you (we) could do something silimar with purple and brown I am sure--here's a link to her photos:

I think that her bouquet is fabulous for a farm wedding. Sometimes multicolor weddings are tacky...but I love that! I just wish they showed more of how they did the colors in their reception.

Yay for rustic sping weddings. :)

I love it! Any thoughts on your centerpieces? I just thought of something I saw, birch-tree-related, and so I was curious if you had already planned your centerpieces.

I'm a week later than yours, and we're having a rustic venue for our reception. I think rustic goes with any season :D

I think your ideas are awesome! And rustic doesn't neccessarily have to mean "fall/autumn". I can totally see a rustic, spring-summery theme with those colors. Go for it!
