Our wedding is June 2013, and it's going to be held in a very elegant ballroom. The ballroom has a gorgeous chandelier that lights up, sounds tacky...but it is stunning.

My FI requested that a darker blue be one of the colors, so we were thinking smokey or slate blue. From there, I'm completely stumped. I'm afraid of using a grey with it because so many are saying those are winter colors.(Though I actually love the idea of slate blue and a light grey) I also love the thought of champagne, gold and some hue of blue.

We have quite a big list of colors we cannot use(other family members on both sides have used them and we don't want anyone nitpicking that we used "their" colors..some are snarky, it would happen.)
So, we cannot use:
hot pink, pale pink, green, bright yellow, red, or deep purple

Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you in advance! :)

How about these?
Slate and a softer butter yellow

Gold and a light grey blue

A warm color thrown in will keep a blue color palette looking nice and summery.

I really like the gold and the light grey blue. It would look amazing in the room. It's not a dark blue like he wants, but everyone has to compromise, right? ;)

Thank you so much!

You could also throw in slate or a darker blue into that color palette. The darker color would make the lighter color really pop.

I think that is what we are going to do. I told him last night that I was changing the colors and he seemed really sad. So keeping the slate in the color group would make him happy. Plus the gold would really compliment the room and keep it light for Summer.

This is probably already settled, but I think that navy blue would look nice, as that's what you're fiance wants. Navy blue and grey look nice together, and gold too.
You know when it is right when you can't think of anything going wrong.
