I'm having such a wedding theme dilemma. I know weddings don't necessarily need a theme but for me planning it all it would make it easier for invitations decor etc.

It will be held in California and I do have select colors of red delicious and rich navy which both me and my fiancé both like considering those r the type of colors leaning towards 4th of July/patriotic which I don't want. He and I love rock music and sports. He has strong Italian backgrounds too I'm African American but I don't really have any strong background like he does.

My question is with that bit of info what can I do as far as a theme?

Do you have the venue already? I found that it was easier to pick the final colors and a theme with the venue in mind. Plus, the colors that we had originally thought of didn't end up working with the location or the month.

I totally agree with Klyn1983...(and not because we are both Detroiters LOL).........you really don't need a theme, but often the venue will give you an idea. For example, people who are getting married on the beach or near the water will often have some nautical items, and choose blue as one of their colors. Our venue was an historic chapel and house in an historic park, so the things we used looked vintage/elegant & romantic. People getting married at a vineyard have wine themed decor & colors.

It's a bit early to think about a theme.........if you do this too soon, you will have a bunch of items purchased, then perhaps change your mind, and have a bunch of stuff you no longer want or need.

Look around the Knot at real weddings, buy some wedding magazines, look those things over. Something will strike you as so impactful it will make your decision for you.
