Hello ladies!

So we're getting married in December and I'm completely going for a Christmas theme (a little on the vintage side)...has anyone else done this or is going to do this and what are you using to make it Christmas-y?

For our place cards, I'm making vintage gift card "tags" that will hang from little Christmas trees and they need to find their "ornament/tag" on the tree to see where they sit.

Also my centerpieces are going to be super simple where we're having a ring of greenery with some red carnations around the bottom of a hurricane and using red taper candles. Something reminescent of a Christmas centerpiece that my mom would have put on the table for Christmas dinner when I was growing up.

Just trying to toss around some ideas!

We are having a vintage/royal christmas theme as well!  We are using a lot of deep reds & golds, having ornaments in our centerpieces, and even some trees! My place cards are being held by pinecones, and we are having other random christmas-y things around, without it being too tacky.  Good luck, I can't wait to see pictures!

Future, that sounds gorgeous! I'm trying to do the same thing...Christmas-y without the tacky-ness :) When are you getting married?

Thanks! We are not getting married until December 6, 2013 because I want to finish school first and make sure I have a job!  I am super excited though and am planning as though it is in a few months! :)

I am doing Christmas theme in 2 months.  One thing I can say, is if you know what you want, start shopping Christmas clearane over the next few years.

We have ornament centerpieces, poinsettias at the altar, and I'm wearing a fur cape for some of my pics.  I'm also putting on the invitation that we request each guest bring an ornament that we can hang.  (I know, etiquette no-no, but everyone thinks its adorable so I don't care).  I'm also making hot chocolate mix as a favor (in those cone bags, with marshmallows and ribbon).  We are also going to have SOME Christmas music mixed in the pre-ceremony music and played in that time before daning at the reception.

I'm doing a Christmas Theme-ish...

I want more the "feeling" of Christmas. Like when your whole family is around and everybody is just happy and excited... But we're using mostly golds.

But as for our Christmas Related Ideas...
We're getting married in front of a Christmas Tree
There will be decorated Christmas Trees at our reception
Probably the most Christmasy thing we're doing is our favors... We're giving out ornaments, but I'm wrapping them like Christmas Presents and they will be at every person's place setting - with the gift tag serving as their place card!

I am doing a Christmas theme this December 22nd. I picked red, white and silver for the colors and for centerpieces I am also using greenery and candles to give that "christmas centerpiece" feel. My place card holders are actually red ornaments. I got the idea from a website that sells place card holders, they were selling white ornament holders. I figured I could do that and just made them myself in red.

I am also having a christmas tree (white lights with red and silver ornaments) in the reception. Poinsettias and candles will be the only decoration in the chapel as well.

I think the main idea with the Christmas theme is to really bring that comfort level into your wedding. On Christmas you are all cozy, surrounded by loved ones and enjoying a good hearty meal....translate that into your wedding day. What would create an inviting atmosphere and invoke those little memories of Christmas for you? At least that's how I'm looking at it if that helps :)

So many fantastic ideas. I'm a rustic Christmas bride over here! My color is mainly red, silver and white accepting. Although I kind of entertained the idea of having a subtle Christmas plaid as our table runner with rustic centerpieces made up of pine cones, wood, pine branches and some holly branches. Loving it! :-) Still thinking up ideas.

I'm a rustic Christmas theme bride as well.
Our colors are sage and cranberry.
each table will have a different center piece.  The lady decorating it showed me some of her ideas (I've left it to her because she is wonderful and said she needed such a project since her husband died last year so I am glad the wedding is bringing her some joy).  She is using mixes of old wood, lanterns, copper pieces, and other things.
Hot drink bar with coffee, cocoa, and hot cider.
A few Chirstmas trees will line one wall with simple clear lights.
The guest book is "Silent Night" with painting by Thomas Kinkaid and the words to the hymn.  The guests will sign the pages and we will put it out each year for Christmas at home.

So many fantastic ideas! Loving the hot drink bar. I was definitely thinking of doing a mulled holiday time wine option for any drinkers. Not only does it taste fantastic, the aroma it leaves in the air is incredible and screams "holidays".

Wow! You ladies all have such great ideas! I love the hot cocoa cones favor idea as well as the hot cocoa/coffee/cider bar. I've thought about adding that as well to our reception. I think the most exciting part IS bringing that sense of coziness and happiness of the holidays to our receptions! It's always been my favorite time and year and now I have an even bigger reason to love the holidays!

Christmas bride here as well!

We are getting married in Dec. 2013 in a 1930's ballroom and were having a 1930's Christmas Brunch Wedding. I'm trying very hard to have both themes prevalent, but not tacky or cliche! Our colors are Red, and Ivory and I want to have a couple big Christmas Trees in the entrance of the reception area with all different red oranments. Attached to the ornaments will be the guests place cards and the guest get to take the ornaments home! I'm trying to get my brother to design me (he's a graphic designer!) invations that resemble 1930's Christmas cards, but I don't know if it can be done right.

Love everyones ideas, and its great to get some more! Have fun everyone!!

I am also having a december wedding! everything will be Christmas themed, however im going traditional with black and white! i am doing red roses to add that hint of red. My bridesmaides are wearing red shoes as well. My dress is a blush pink Vera Wang gown that goes just perfectly with the black white and hint of red theme. I will mainly use green trees so that too many colors wont be involved. I also want to use the babys breathe balls, raised high in glass vases as center pieces to add a snow look. For favors i am going to have initialed ornaments so that every one can take them home and use them. that way i wont have to personalize them in so much depth. Im so excited oh yeah our date is December 8, 2012

my future hubby and i were just reading everyones ideas and they are amazing!! i hope all of your days turn out magical. We are currently thinking of a Christmas theme, we are both Dec babies and love the holidays! We havent made to many decisions yet. We want a very classy look, we want to include touches of black, as well as black and white feathers, im thinking green trees with alot of white lights, we want  to serve ham/ turkey/ mashed potatoes/ Christmas dinner/, ideally we will have a kids table set up which will be supervised by a friend of ours who is an Early childhood educator so that parents can still dance and there wee ones will be in the same room and save and having fun making ornaments. we want our guests to walk in and feel the magic they feel on christmas morning. Also we are making Christmas come early; Augest 3, 2013. our daughters half birthday. We loved all of the ideas we read, everyone is soo creative!!  our way to save money is to buy Christmas clearance in 2012. Do you beautiful brides have your wedding dress? have you been shopping?
xo <3 please have a happy day

My finance` and I decided on a Christmas wedding as well. We choose Dec. 22, 2012. We decided on having our wedding in the evening for full advantage of decorating with some christmas lights. We are going with a classic family christmas theme, our main colors are deep reds, golds. and evergreens. We are going to use Chirstmas trees as well lightly wrapped in suttle colored lights. We are also using a fire place,  poinsettias and candles. The childrens choir from our church are going to dress in winter atire and sing christmas carols for our guests as they are being seated. For our reception we are using solids over a white underlay with gold chargers and white plates, we also choose to go with a classic Christmas dinner, Turkey and Chicken, mash pots, green beans, and a roll on the side. For our cocktail hour we both choose a Christmas cocktail and decided to go with a hot bar. Christmas cookie and pumpkin roll appetizers will be severed at that time as well. For our favors we found this place online that would customize Christmas ornaments with our names and our wedding date which will be placed in a small Christmas box on the center of there plates.  The only problem im having now is choosing the right center pieces for our tables and for my bridesmaids to carry. My bridesmaids are wearing cranberry red dresses and im afraid if go with a red flower it will be over kill on the reds!! So we are trying to find a alternative color for our flower without having to change up the dress colors. I have been at this for months and im about to go bonkers lol, I had a blast reading through everyone's ideas and they all sound great i hope everything turns out beautiful cant wait to see the pics

cfloyd1018:

You could use cream flowers for the BM bouquets instead of red.

We were married December 18.  I didn't want a "Christmas" wedding, even though I love Christmas.  We did black & white with touches of red.

Our Christmas touches: the church was decorated with greenery & red bows & poinsettias.  Our tie in was the red roses in the BM bouquets & the GM bouts.  We also had a couple of poinsettias at the reception.

Wow! I am so glad that I am not the only one!! Our wedding date is 12-22-12!! I am so happy to read all of your wonderful ideas!! I am addicted to pinterest and have been combing it for days looking for inspiration and ideas so that we can have a christmas themed ceremony and reception thats classy not tacky! I cannot tell you how many of my friends have given me that "ugh ew!" look or have even said it out loud when I said that we are doing a vintage christman theme for our wedding.
One thing I saw that i really liked was actually just from a holiday party set up, but if you are doing a candy bar (which i am thinking about doing) you can have jars of red and white gumdrops, and cancycanes, and things like that, along with the candy to add to the christmas feel of the table they had large nutcrackers. I thought this was cute but I also think the Nutcracker Ballet is one of my favorite things about christmas!
