So I'm the MOH in my sister's wedding February 2013. Her theme is 'Frozen Wonderland' (or ar least it is currently, lol) and we've been going over lots of ideas, but the problem is that her fiance is looking to get involved and he wants us to 'work in' bright orange (his favorite color, think hazard cones...)

Our color scheme is white, royal blue, and silver and I'm afraid that working in orange isn't going to look very wintery. I know blue and orange are comlplimentary, but they look more.... tropical? Maybe? How can I 'work in' orange while still keeping our theme?

What is the problem with her FI wanting to get involved in the planning of THEIR wedding?

I think you mean well, but you need to take a step back and let your sister and her FI make these decision.  When you start using terms like "our color scheme," and "how can I" when it's not your wedding, it's time to hand the planning back over to the B&G.

I don't think orange goes (at all) with the current color scheme, but she needs to work with her FI on a compromise.  Maybe an orange signature drink at the bar?

The problem isn't that he wants to get involved, it's his request of adding in orange, but I suppose I worded that wrong. I'm acting as the wedding planner here, so that's the reason I'm so involved. Honestly my sister is excited about my enthusiasm, I want her to have a great day and help make the wedding everything she wants it to be.

And yes it is her FI's day too and that's why I'm searching for ways to help them compromise. I've already suggested to my sister the idea of having a groom's cake and we can make that different from the main cake to suit his tastes.

Another thought that I had was to try and somehow incorporate the idea of a warm fire in winter, which would bring in shades of orange to the decor. I'm just not sure how it will flow together, but I'm determined to find a way to make it work.

And on a quick sidenote, I was specifically asked to help with planning and I don't take it lightly. If I overstep I know my sister won't hesitate to say so, lol.

There was a local knottie on the MSP boards who had a very pretty orange and blue winter wedding color scheme:

Ooh I like what she did with the head table at the reception. Those draping lights looked so pretty!

I'm a Gator alum so whenever I see Orange and Blue I automatically think of UF.

I think you can make it work though! Google is your friend and the website a PP posted for you should get you started!

I agree with IloveMilkDuds :) as to it being their wedding and how great that he wants to be involved in the planning. Then again, any help you're able to assist her with I'm sure she appreciates.

But I personally think that with spritzes of orange for a pop of color would be beautiul. It may not be the "typical" winter colors you see, but that's what I love about it. It's different! It's outside the box. I mean, I haven't seen any winter weddings with those colors because.... could make a great opp to submit to wedding blogs after the wedding... she may start a whole new trend! :)

I know as her sister and MOH it's easy to start planning it all your own, but maybe an idea that could help is to plan a night for you, the Bride and Groom, and his best man.
Order dinner in (pizza or Chinese, MMmmM! ..that is if the bride isn't going all diet), or make something totally easy (unless you really like to cook then go all out) serve wine and some dessert and have everyone bring their lap top! Have some hor'dourves and have teams so to speak, either you and the Bride on one team, and the Groom and best man as the other or the Bride and Groom vs. you and the best man and Google ideas.... then discuss them as a group! I don't know how involved the Groom wants to be, but having the best man there will help even things out. The guys may surprise both of you and it'll help get them involved. But I guess it all depends on the Groom, haha... some may not be totally into this idea, but it's a thought. Lol.

Love the signature drink idea.

For wardrobe and flowers, I'm thinking:
Bridesmaids in royal blue dresses with silver shoes, OR vice-versa. White bouquets with a silver wrap and orange ribbons.
The guys can wear black suits with white shirts, a silver vest and a striped or paisley tie that has orange and silver together. Then for the boutonniere a white flower that matches the bridesmaids bouquet; with a royal blue ribbon.

Or she can even have her main colors be the white and silver; with tiny accents of the blue and orange... or even go darker... maybe navy? Actually, now that I think about it; if she went for a darker shade of blue and keeps the orange it will add more warmth to it for that wintery feel.

That's all I got for now, haha.

Good luck and best wishes!! :)

Lots of great orange and blue ideas out there. Just use google! And yes, adding a bright color may take away from the "Frozen wonderland" concept, but I think adding orange for the flowers will give a nice pop of color. With ice blue dresses, the orange bouquets would be gorgeous and they would like nice as bouts on the boys as well. They don't have to be "tropical" flowers. Orange roses are nice
