Our anniversary is January 12 so my fiance and I are thinking we want to have our wedding Jan 12, 2013. I graduate Dec 2012 and we weren't sure if this would be too close to Christmas and end up being hectic because of the holidays and graduation. What do you think? Is it doable?

Totally doable! I graduate this coming May, and we're getting married January 7, 2012 for many reasons. It worked out really nicely because I had all of last summer to do the bulk of the planning (we got engaged in late April), we've had time to find and purchase a house, and I can honestly say that even with school and the holidays coming up, I'm not stressed out at all. And my MOH was married in October (I was also a bridesmaid for her) so we had extra wedding stuff going on in between, plus buying a house, dealing with loans, etc.

At this point, I'm honestly a little bored. I know December will go quickly, but I certainly don't feel overwhelmed by anything. Go for it!

I think that is awesome because depending on your colors there are alot of reds, golds, and silver that time of year for christmas and valentines out so that would save alot of money and it makes for a great start to the new year..good luck

I don't think the holidays will be an issue but be sure to take your school schedule into consideration. 'm getting married this January and my fiance is graduating this December. One thing we never thought of is the stress factor of him studying for finals while also trying to plan last minute details for the wedding. The stress is getting to be a bit much for him as we get closer to the big day and he feels like he can only focus on school for now (which I support but it's not what we would ideally want). If we waited a bit longer he'd also be working and we wouldn't be as strapped for cash. I'm not trying to be a downer! I just wish we would have thought of those things prior to picking a date so wanted to share it. Best of luck with your decision!

This.  I'm currently working full time and attending school full time.  We got engaged last Dec and are getting married Jan 7, 2012.  I picked Jan 7th because it's between semesters so it works well for me with school.  Plus I get a bit of time off for the holidays so it helps me with the planning.  Since we chose our date fairly early i had all summer to plan and was pretty much done by august.  It's just been little things like dress fittings and invitations to do the last few months.

I think its a great date. I really don't think it will interfere with the holidays. I'm really shocked that many people are choosing to get married in January. My fiance really wants to get married in January 2013 as well. I am having a really hard time commiting due to bad weather here in NYC.

Thank you all for the advice! I think my main thing to consider is graduating because it would be easier to pay for if I wait until after I start working. We want to go skiing in Aspen or somewhere like that for our honeymoon so we figured why not just have it on our anniversary. :)

I'm also considering a winter wedding, but I'm scared about the weather, and not being able to have outdoor pictures. What are your thoughts??
