To NYE Brides and those with an opinon:

How are you incorporating the new year into your wedding? Fiance and I are getting married 12/31/2011 and are very excited to celebrate our new marriage and the new year with all of our closest friends.

We're having a 6:30 ceremony with the reception following immediately. We plan to have a champagne toast a midnight. We're in central standard time, but I'd love to have a live stream of the NY ball drop at 11:00 our time.

Any other ideas? We're still brainstorming!

My fiance and I are having our ceremony at 4:00pm, cocktail hour from 4:30pm-5:30pm, and our reception from 5:30-10:00pm. (Our entire event is being held at a B&B, so the ceremony, reception, and overnight rooms are all in the same place).  After the reception, we are hosting a "comfy clothes" NYE party with all the hats, blowers, noisemakers, and a big screen to watch the ball drop (we are EST, so we'll watch New York at 12:00am!). Actually, my DJ is providing a bunch of NYE props for free because it's a holiday- which is saving me a bundle!

You could have a DIY centerpiece made out of NYE props that guests can use when the time comes. That way, it serves a double purpose (and you save $$ on flowers!)

We're doing a champagne toast at midnight with a balloon and confetti drop from the balcony of our reception.

I also wanted to stream in the ball drop live, but with my technology luck the screen would freeze or something equally anti-climatic.

Haven't decided 100%, but leaning toward having the DJ start the count down for us and then play a version of auld lang syne at "Happy New Year!" and then going right into super-pumped up dancing music for the final hour of the reception.

Interested in hearing more ideas!

We are haveing a toast at midnight.  We are also going to have hats, niose makes, etc passed out to our guests around 11:30 (maybe earlier).  We are thinking about getting a very large wall clock to stil on the matel of the fireplace to help us count down, only issue is it's on the other side of the room from the dance floor. Our location won't let us to confetti or balloons as we had hopped to do.  I like the idea of streaming time square in...

I saw online the idea of having New Year's resolutions on each table (like on the back of the table number).  Thought that was a cute idea.

Kaiti, I like your idea of the NYE props for centerpieces.  We have been trying to put together something like that and haven't quite figured out how.

We're having a champagne toast, live stream from NYC, and a balloon drop at midnight.

Our seating cards are going to each be held in a champagne cork (cut slice in top of cork).

We're going to have lots of noise makers and hats and things. We'll also have those things in our photobooth along w/ other props.

We're doing gift bags for the guests who stay over in the hotel with a New Years Eve 'recovery kit' type of theme. Water/Gatorade, Tylenol, Dunkin gift card...we're still working on that idea.

I want to do a 'wishing tree' but with a NYE theme....something like resolutions instead of wishes for us? Something along those lines just have to think it out so it makes sense....
