If you're planning a wedding between December and February, here's the place to chat with other winter brides.
I need some suggestions/ideas.  I'll have just turned 51 when I get married. This will be my 4th and final marriage. I've chosen the dress that I plan on wearing. It's a 1947 dress worn by Queen

I need some suggestions/ideas.  I'll have just turned 51 when I get married. This will be my 4th and final marriage. I've chosen the dress that I plan on wearing. It's a 1947 dress worn by Queen Elizabeth.  I specifically need help wiith the following:  Color scheme and types of food to serve. I'd like my wedding to be age appropriate. Should I do a registry? I been told that since I've been married more than once that I shouldn't do a registry. Because it is going to be victorian/vintage should I choose a church or have it elsewhere?

You can have a registry if you want, but is there need for it? If the answer is yes, feel free. If the answer is no, you could instead request your guests to donate to a charity of your selection, like a local animal shelter or a human rights group.

Only have it in a church if you want to have it in a church, but there are many other sites that a Victorian winter wedding could fit, like a manor, country club, city hall, or museum.

If a favorite restaurant of yours and your fiance's caters, ask them to cater the wedding for you. Winter foods tend to be heartier, like pastas and potatoes, so if you're still looking for a menu, safe bets are always Italian (which can also provide many otions for vegetarian guests, but not vegan), and heavier local specialities. Don't forget to ask all your guests about dietary restrictions before you decide on a menu or catering service.

As for color sceme, popular winter colors are reds, greens, silvers, whites, golds, blues, and purples. However, winter weddings can come in any color palate, so you could very easily do a combination of your favorite color and your fiance's favorite color and have it fit in with nearly any venue.

Your wedding should be as age appropriate as you FEEL. Don't ignore something you want or have something you don't want just because it's expected of you.

First..just bc of my internet..was the dress actually worn by Queen Elizabeth or is it a replica.  Cause if its the same dress..that is pretty sweet.

I would think of a red and gold wedding would be really pretty and royal looking.

Food depends on the day and time of your event.

Don't do a registry.  But I agree with the charity donation if you feel your guests should give anything.  However, make sure it's nothing your guests would disagree with or be offended by.  Know your audience.  For instance if your godmother is a far right winger, a donation to the democratic party in her honor might offend rather than honor.  Just food for thought.

Also (and I know I'm going to get burned for this) but should you really be doing the full ceremony for the 4th marriage?  I can totally understand if the first 3 have just been quickie JOP deals in the couthouse with no pomp involved, but if you've donned the white dress for all 4, you might want to reconsider the wardrobe and get together....

That aside, winter is an awesome backdrop for bold colors - jewel tones, metallics, shiny things, etc.  The nice thing about winter is, you have a completely white backdrop and can use as many colors or patterns as you want and not clash with the surroundings or look out of season.

Sorry to not be the agreeing voice you may have been hoping for.  But they are things to think about and come to terms with whatever you end up deciding to do.  I myself have gotten flamed for things i decided to do in my wedding/ marriage, but I did things that I felt were right for me and my fiance in the end.  The choice is ultimately yours.  Best wishes, and hopes for a happy marriage.
