Most Frustrating Part of the Wedding for you?

What's the most frustrating or time consuming part of the wedding for you?

Also, are you using any apps or devices to help these problems? If not, do you think any would help you? I know i have some ideas for my wedding issues.

Re: Most Frustrating Part of the Wedding for you?

  • So far, wedding planning-wise, I find budgeting the worst/most frustrating part.

I use the tools on The Knot and a good ol' pen and paper.

  • Seating chart was for me. By the time i recieved all my RSVPs it was 10 days out and didn't want to do anything :-P but got it done.
  • Haha for me so far it's WAITING!  I'm about to graduate school, start my dream job, and get married within about a 9 month span.... but none of that happens until spring.  Tick tock.

  • For me its waiting and my own hypocrisy. For weeks I BITCHED about having nothing wedding related to do and the waiting was grating on me ...and now I have stuff to get centerpieces done...and I don't want to do them now....

  • My biggest frustration so far has been hair and make up. The woman I booked told me that I only needed 4 girls including myself. She then called me back and said I couldnt use her without booking 6 girls. I am severely annoyed about it.

  • April 25th. I know I have 5 1/2 months to get someone new I just really wanted to use her because she did my hair for my friends wedding and it came out awesome. I was so happy that I had one more thing off my list and now I am back at square one with it.

  • Yeah that can be frustrating but just remember it's going to be okay.
I have to remind myself of that too. I'm already going crazy with planning but so much of it is hard to decide on and my fiance isn't interested. :(

  • I thankfully have most things done and paid for. I always say to myself no matter what goes wrong I will still get married and thats all that matters.

  • Well you're very fortunate! Me on the other hand lol is a whole other story. I'm losing my confidence about this....

  • I think the fact that we are engaged and planning a wedding but I do not have an engagement ring. That doesnt bother ME at all...but it bothers other people I guess. I spent the last year working my butt off paying off $30,000 in debt (credit cards, FI's student loans, funiture etc) and now that I am debt free I am helping my FI pay off the rest of his student loans and his vehicle....We don't see the need to add anymore debt right now so I am assuming he is saving cash for that (not sure). We actually have not set a date for our wedding and do not plan to until at least half of the costs are saved for. Because of that other people do not see us as "Engaged". I've lived most of my life in debt and do not want to start my new life with someone else's debt...so working on being debt free for the both of us!

  • I answered your question on Woes.

If you're going to post the same question on multiple boards, please add XP to the front of the title of the post so that people know it's cross-posted.

  • I didn't have any frustrations until the few days prior, and they came in the form of one of my OOT guests who wanted to make the weekend all about her and caused some drama.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Its ok, Idon't have an engagement ring either so do not feel bad. I get all those comments as well 'why doesnt she have a ring..blah blah blah". As long as your taking your time anD you are comcompletely sure about getting married go ahead. Anyways have a nice day!
  • I use the Knot wedding planner, store registry apps, and a binder filled with promotional literature, catalogs, budget sheets, swatches, etc.

Probably the most frustrating part for me is feeling like certain things have to be done/organized/decided/paid for NOW and nobody (ESP FI) has the same sense of urgency. It drives me nuts.
  • This is going to sound horrible, but I think the most frustrating part has been dealing with the CRAZY from FH's family. Sister ignoring the fact that her daughter is not invited, grandparents writing in "substitute" guests on the response cards, other grandparents calling and begging FH to invite other people. *sigh* This is why we invited less than 25 people to begin with! Some of this I might let go if we were having a larger wedding but the venue literally maxes out at 25 and it is not "14 month old child-friendly" so unfortunately it has to be dealt with. Yes, I'm letting FH handle it but at the end of the day, I'm still having to deal with it one way or another.
  • My biggest frustration was the dipshit wedding coordinator at our venue.  I had to stay on top of him almost daily for the last couple of weeks because he was completely and hopelessly obtuse.  Thankfully, on the day of, another coordinator was there and he was much better.

I just wanted to congratulate you on the way you have gone about it!  No better way to start off a marriage than without the nag of debt around your neck like an albatross.

You're in a far better position than a lot of people getting married and that's commendable
  • For me the most frustrating part is budgeting. FI and I are paying for everything ourselves and it's really hard sometimes to figure out what we want to splurge on, and what things we can cut completely.

  • I didn't tell my family we were getting married until we had everything, 'set up'. So I was able to shut down ethe meddlesome suggestions quickly, but we still got them.

The day of, everyone tried to come into my room to see me before the wedding, not cool, had to kick people out.

Did you let people know you didn't want to be seen? If you did, that is really rude of them to assume they could just do what they wanted. I'm doing the same thing. Moment my dress is on, no more visitors, >.> let's just say I have some family and friends not so happy with me haha.

  • mine was the guest list for sure!  Parents wanted a B list (did not happen do not worry)... MIL took F-O-R-E-V-E-R to give me her list and then even after that kept saying oh I forgot these people, or I told them they were invited (did this 3 weeks before the wedding!!); you have to invite FSILs boss!? um no I do not, We do not know him.  And then of course we had the extra additions on rsvps-- I did not realize people actually did that!  and we had 2 guest show to the wedding with +1s that were not given a +1 (not in relationships); nor did they rsvp for the +1... luckily it all worked out and at that point I figured what was done is done and I am not going to let it ruin my wedding day.  but, man I am glad I never have to do a guest list ever again!

  • The expenses.

I paid off my car and became debt-free the week before FI proposed.  Yay, right?  Except I wrote a 12,000 dollar check, which was my entire life savings, to do it.  Would have been fine, I'd have been back up a couple thousand and on my way to re-building my savings within a couple months, except... we got engaged (total surprise), and now are having to put down large deposits on things, without a savings cushion.  It's really quite frustrating.  If I had known this was coming, I probably would have waited until after the wedding to pay off the car.

I'm at the point now where I can't buy a dress yet, I have no money saved.  Can't order save the dates, no money saved.  Literally put every extra penny I've earned this month (above actual cost of living expenses) into the venue & photographer deposits.

We'll be ok, budget-wise, it's just frustrating to have to drop so much, so early in the game, without "fair warning" to me :P
