Throwing sprinkles instead of rice?

I'm sure we've all seen a version of this post on Pinterest that reads: "They say throw sprinkles instead of rice at weddings - the pictures turn out amazing." 

Has anyone ever seen or done this? Personally, I'm going to stick with bubbles. I'm getting married in August, so I don't want to risk getting half-melted sprinkles thrown all over my dress...

Sprinkles sound like an awful idea!  That color could easily end up smushed in your dress or guests clothing.  I also hate bubbles for the same idea....soapy bubbles can leave marks in clothing.  If I were a guest, I wouldn't be participating or standing near this.

I would not do sprinkles. There are too many things that could go wrong. I would stick to bubbles or rice or something.

If you're set on throwing something, make sure your venue allows it.  It was in the contract with my venue that if anything was thrown, we would forfeit our deposit.  I've heard similar things from other brides about their venues as well.   Throwing stuff makes a mess that someone has to clean up and isn't very good for the environment.

Ditto PP though on checking with your venue on rules about this sort of thing.

All I can think of is what a huge pita that would be to clean up because the food coloring would get on everything!
They would dissolve if anything was wet that they landed on and would completely stain any light colored clothes too.

Our venue allows bubbles, lavender, or birdseed but no rice or confetti so I am sure they would not allow this either.
