Getting Married in California but Want Another Wedding in Vegas For Family, Possible?

Hi!

My fiancee and I live in Los Angeles and we recently got engaged! His entire family lives in Las Vegas and my family, which is much smaller (about 9 of us all together) lives in San Diego. Of course Same Sex marriage is legal in California but not in Nevada. If we were to get "married" in Vegas we'd be a domestic partnership not married and the title of married is VERY important to me, so we've decided to get married in California but would love to include his family as well.

So my question is; can we get married in California and go to Vegas and have a "repeat" wedding in Vegas? Do we use a Justice of the Peace or Officiant who understands we got married in California already and just want to have a ceremony with our family in friends in Vegas? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you have a re-do ceremony in Vegas, you can have anyone you want to perform the ceremony since it has not legally binding. If you have a clergy member, favorite aunt, dog walker who has a good speaking voice, whatever, go for it.

You don't need a Justice of the Peace.

You could also just have the ceremony in California and just have an "at home reception" and skip the re-do ceremony. Some people will show a video if their actual wedding.

LA is 4 hours from Vegas. You don't think your Vegas guests would be willing to make the drive? I would.
