Asheville/Black Mountain Venues

Any new/lesser known Asheville-area venues not-to-miss? We're looking at about 150-175 guests, and have The Farm, Bells Cove, Claxton Farm, Bearwallow, Black Mountain Sanctuary, The Crest Center and Lioncrest at Biltmore on the list of possibilities.

Look into the Botanical Gardens on the UNC Asheville campus if you want an outdoor wedding (they also have an indoor facility). So pretty and easily accessible from the highway and less than 5 minutes to downtown Asheville.

We had ours at Hidden River Events. We also looked at Yesterdays Spaces, both are lovely.

Most of those are informal, farm settings (except for Crest and Biltmore, which are indoors and more formal). Hidden River is along those lines and close to Black Mountain. If you're on a tight budget, similar properties in that area include a number of summer camps that allow weddings in their off season (Sept-May). The Aboretum is a large venue, centrally-located, set with many gardens. Further south, you might consider Forge Valley. On the North side, check out Brown's Farm.

We're having our wedding at Claxton Farm and we're thrilled.  It is pricey but they are really great at helping you get everything all set up with vendors, especially from afar.  We're planning a second wedding closer to home for some family who can't make it, and it will be far cheaper but it's turning into a lot more work to plan a mini wedding for 30 people than the big event itself!

The staff at Claxton are great and we loved the setting more than Crest which we also looked at.  Nothing but nature in every direction.  At Crest we felt like we would need to make sure people didn't take pictures in a certain direction so there wouldn't be power lines in them.

You could also try Taylor Ranch on the south side of Asheville.

Assembly Inn at Montreat has just been remodeled and is perfect for that size group. I think they have 100 rooms and it's a lovely old rock Inn 2 miles from Black Mountain.

Also check out The NC Arboretum and The Monte Vista Hotel...
