We are footing most of the bill, but my parents did give us some money. What is the best way to word the invitation?

Re: Parents on the Invitation

  • You could always go with "Together with their families...."
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

I agree.  This is the easiest and best way to include multiple individuals as hosts of your wedding.

This is what we did. If you listed only your parents and not his, it might be awkward for his parents. "Together with their families..." is inclusive so you don't single someone out if they didn't help pay for the wedding.

Technically, the invitations list the hosts, not who is paying.  Hosting includes greeting and caring for guests on the wedding day, keeping track of the RSVPs, etc..

This.  One can host without paying and vice versa.  Wedding invitations aren't playbills-who's paying is none of the guests' business.  Nor are they intended to map out the family tree.

    Here are your choices:

    Together with their families
    Bride's Full Name
    and
    Groom's Full Name
request the pleasure of your company
as they are united in marriage
    Day, date
    time
    Venue
    Address
    City, State

    or

The pleasure of your company is reuested
    at the marriage of
    Bride's Full Name
    and
    Groom's Full Name
    Day, date (etc.)

If you are having a church wedding, you should use "request the honour of your presence".
