(sorry for third post in a row. Oops...)

How far out did you girls get your dresses? I've been fighting the temptation to go shopping whatsoever until we have a deposit officially down on a venue. (A few more to see, but our date so far has been open, May 1, 2016!) I have a friend who's looking at a June 2016 wedding, engaged a few months before me, and she just bought her dress at DB over the weekend. I would think my tastes are going to change a lot in two years so I'm sitting on my hands trying to be patient and just enjoying dress porn at the moment.

I'm officially obsessed with your dress. It's amazing.

Thanks!! If I love it as much as I did the first time, I'll be getting that one :-) Best of all, it is probably the most lightweight & comfortable dress I tried on!

@blackbird230 I got tried on dresses 7 months out. A lot of times it depends on the designer.  Some shops want you to come in almost a year before.

@Blackbird230 I bought my dress in March 2013 and married in November 2013 so around 8 months out. It arrived at the store in July so the rest of the time frame was devoted to alterations.

@Blackbird230 - I bought my dress March 8 - when I originally ordered it the estimated arrival was Mid-Sept.  When I started having bad dreams that it wouldn't arrive in time, I asked the bridal shop and they said 'The new schedule on it is no later than mid-August'.  It came in early the week of July 8.  I know when I was getting nervous, I started looking at some other Allure brides, some did really take 8 months to come in.

For the BM dress, we just ordered it end of last month.  I was limited to a few designers; the sales lady went through all the rush fees with us for each designer we could get.  We ended up with an Alfred Angelo dress where she said the dress was slated to come in end of August at the latest with NO rush fee (and AA's rush fee was only $15 if it would have taken longer).

I love all the lace on this discussion, but I am clearly very biased! @Blackbird230 @KeptInStitches and @Hummingbird125 I absolutely love the dresses that you posted!

@TwoDimes - I'm not sure how I'm going to accessorize. I feel like I need to be careful because the dress is all lace, and I don't want accessories to make it look too busy or fussy. I'm taking it to be cleaned/restored next week I think, so they might have some suggestions as well. I haven't even thought about a veil, I'm on the fence about if I even want one.

@blabla89 - I seriously have no idea how it's still in this condition! I don't think it was properly preserved or stored or whatever (this was 60 years ago, so probably not something she thought about); I'm pretty sure that it was just in a bag and/or box in my grandpa's basement!

I got engaged 10/29/2010, got my dress in 11/2010 and got married 07/2011.  I got my dress really early.  I just went to try things on and get ideas, but ended up buying it because it was half off.

I got engaged 4/5/2014 and am getting married 4/29/2015. I got my dress in June because it was on sale and I liked it.

@blackbird230 I got engaged in December and had a dress bought by the end of January and our wedding is December of this year. I knew I was going to procrastinate so I wanted to get it done ASAP. I also wanted my mom with me and I knew I had to do it before the beginning of summer since my parents travel all summer.

I haven't looked at dresses yet, but I like the one @bethsmiles posted!  It might be a little too similar to the dresses my sister and friend recently wore though, so I will probably avoid those type of ruffles, even though I love them!

I'm actually quite sad because I can't see 50% of what is posted on here. However, @KeptInStitches , that lace neckline is insanely gorgeous. I know I won't be able to ever wear a strapless gown, and lace sleeves just always look so elegant. That dress is to die for!

I'm not engaged, but I always pictured it being something like this:

I'm sure the rest of you ladies whose pictures I can't see look absolutely fabulous though!

I think it was Fall 2013 line (I bought it in December and couldn't find it used anywhere) but I could be wrong. It's Maggie S.

I honestly haven't thought about dresses because I hate my size and would like to work on that before I think what would look good on my shape, but damn you girls have good taste! I'm glad I will have you all here for opnions when the time does come!

I have to admit - now that I'm looking at all these beautiful dresses, I'm thinking I shouldn't have gotten something so poofy.

I love my dress - I think I'm just having body issues at the moment.  I think there's also a little bit of 'dress regret' because I did have it all built up in my head and now it's come in and at my house and I'm in the 'did I pick the right one?'.

I bought my future dream wedding dress. I got it from modcloth and it was a steal for the price! I know I sound BSC but it was absolutely perfect and I didn't want it to disappear. We have talked about getting married and we know this is it. So hopefully I don't sound too insane ha. Plus I know V will love it, he always thought long gowns look weird and too fussy. I also like how I can possibly wear it for future anniversaries. Here it is!

Thanks - I always 2nd guess myself - on EVERYTHING (I bought 4 pairs of shoes for my wedding trying to figure out the perfect pair).  I settled on a pair of wedges that may not be the most fancy, but taking my venue into account are the most practical (wood planks + heels seems like a bad idea - I'm going to pack a bag too which will have some personal items including a pair of comfy shoes).

cu97tiger I know I sound insane, which is very embarrassing for me. I haven't done anything else. I don't even have a pintrest board or anything remotely related. I just thought it was very pretty and I could afford it. I just like hanging out on this website because I find you guys interesting.
