Wedding Invitations & Paper

Are you having all your stationary/paper match?

Like the STD, invitation, menu, and thank you cards are all the same?

I don't want to...I have an idea for invitations, another for menus, and another for thank you's. I'm just worried it will be too random. I know all these items come at separate times, so it's not a big deal. But I don't want people to get to the wedding and be like "wow, these menus are totally different." this is all probably paranoia though.

    Nope.

I didn't do STDs nor did I do menus.  I made my own invites and then bought small blank thank you cards from Hallmark.

And really do you think your guests will notice if their menus do not match your invites or your STDs?

    Nobody will notice.

My save the dates don't match my invites, etc. though my invites do match my thank you cards and table numbers. Part of the difference between STDs and invites is that we changed our mind about our wedding colors after the STDs went out. BUt the only reason we really stuck to the same look for the rest of our stationary was because we had a bunch of coupons for the vendor and i just really liked the theme. But honestly, none of my guests really care one way or the other and I doubt yours will either.

Nope. They don't have to match. Nobody will care or notice.

If someone does come up to you saying, "You know, your menus don't match your invitations," feel free to give them the stink eye and think they are a crazy person.

First Anniversary First Answer 5 Love Its Name Dropper

They all did have our wedding colors.  So I guess you could say they were coordinated, but they did not match.

STDs were magnets done by one company  (picture magnet).  Invites by a different company (pocket-folds).   Programs and OOT welcome notes were done by me (they had a similar theme).    Menus were done by the venue.  I didn't having anything to do with them.  They did have our purple and brown starfish logo on them.

ETA - I printed my own TY notes.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

All of mine matched, I couldn't have pictured it any other way.  But if you like it that way, then carry on.  It's about what you like.

Ours doesn't all match. I suppose the menus and invites coordinate since they're black and ivory and use the same font but it wasn't really a conscious decision.  We haven't bought TY's yet but I think I'm set on a simple black and ivory one from AC Moore.

Newp. Hell, even my invitations didn't "match" themselves - I bought RSVP cards from a different set than the invitations. And printed my own inserts.

They correlate, but they don't "match". But this was just for my own enjoyment, I don't think that anyone else will care or notice. My fiancé didn't even notice that our invites have the same theme as our STDs.

But I picked out designs because I think they're pretty, so I like using them, so I want to use more things with the same designs.

Ours won't match. We made our STDs before we had even decided on colors so we just picked one we thought was pretty. Not doing menus. Invitations and thank you's won't match either, but I tend to like a certain type of stationary (simple, understated, yet elegant) so I think in a way, everything will "go together" even if it doesn't match perfectly.

Our invites, thank you notes, table numbers, and escort cards all matched.  Simply because it was easier to buy all the same stuff (blanks that I ran through my printer) rather than shop for different stationary for each item.  And I thought it was pretty.

Nope. I wanted the thank you cards to match the invitations, but they were like $100 vs $10 for some generic ones from the craft store.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

We had a fern motif so we carried that through our invites, programs, TYs etc. We DIYd everything though so it wasn't hard to do. Had it been expensive we wouldn't have done it..

No. My invitations were black and pink. My wedding colors were champagne and coral.

Well, back in my day, you didn't have to worry about matching.  Wedding invitations were white or ecru - period!

I'm not doing any colors...glad I won't have to worry about coordinating all of that.

Nope. My invitations ended up being totally different from my STDs.

My invitations were black and white. Our wedding was royal blue, peach, and yellow.

No, my daughter didn't fuss about too much matching. Our STDs were very full color silly ones. Pop ups, because I think pop ups are hilarious.
Invites were much more subdued and dignified cream colored with black font, cream grosgrain ribbon bands.

I have one question.....so do my colors on my invitations have to match my colors of my party-reception? For example the invitations I want are black and white, my mother can't stand a black and white wedding, I don't hate it, actually for a moment I actually considered it a good idea.
I like when the invitations clue me in to the wedding colors, just because I don't like to wear the same color as the bridesmaids. But that's just personal preference, not a rule by far. Black and white invitations are classic and always appropriate.

Ours were cream with black printing.  I was going to do dark blue printing (wedding colors) but it just didn't look as nice as the black.

My FI and I are graphic designers and I'm a printer, so I am pretty sure everything for ours will match! But being in this field makes it all the more obvious to me that a lot of people won't notice at all, haha. So if y'all are happy, then it's all good!
