Weight loss and dress fittings

I am hoping to 65 lbs before the wedding. How is that going to affect my dress fittings and alterations. Should I try to have my weight loss goal met by the last alteration date? How far out from wedding day would that be?

Re: Weight loss and dress fittings

  • From what I have seen, including the check list I have on this site, Ours is a year away, and two months before is when the dress as a final fitting, I will be making sure I reach my goal of 40Lbs by then.

  • Have you already got your dress? I think they say that they can only alter a dress if you lose or gain up to 20 lbs, otherwise a new dress may be needed.

I would say wait if you haven't gotten your dress yet. Maybe work your hardest to get to goal weight and then go dress shopping in the late winter/early spring. Call your preferred shop too and see what they recommend.

  • So I ordered my dress this weekend, and just while we were talking, I found out some interesting information.  Apparently some dress companies pretty much shut down for much of Dec/Jan or Jan/Feb (whichever encompasses chinese new year).  This may push some orders back, and this was the first id ever heard of it.  They told me when I ordered on Saturday that i should expect to see my dress in late spring.

Dont want to be a bummer, just some food for thought ;/.

Good luck on your goals though!
