Today FI texted me a screenshot from his phone of an email(?) he got that contained a scanned invitation to a distant buddy's wedding. He then said, "We should invite them to our wedding now, right?"
Cue massive eye roll from me. I had to explain the many reasons the answer was no, the least of which was this e-vite. I've never met the guy, FI hasn't seen him in probably four years, and they never even interact on FB. Why would we invite this person and his by-then wife when we're pushing max capacity by including people we really WANT to see? Killing me, smalls! Love him, but he can be a doofus.
