When to send save the date

Hi, We are having our wedding on the Cape (Mass) on Columbus Day weekend in 2015. Family and friend are either out of state and or hours away. What is the best time line to send these out?

6-9 months is a common time to send save the dates. Maybe more toward 9 months, since it's a holiday weekend.

I would send them after the holidays. So Jan 2015.

A general timeline is 6-9 months.

I would typically think 9 months is perfect, but if you have any family or friends traveling a long distance or you are doing a hotel block, I would send them 10-12 month out.  This gives everyone time to plan ahead.  We are going to send ours out 1 year in advance and include our wedding website so everyone knows the room block is available.

Yes, we have the hotel block, and our website on the back of them. We do have a good portion coming from out of state. Even those instate, will want to stay over, seeing its a night wedding
