10/25 brides

Two weeks!  What's left on your to-do list?

Re: 10/25 brides

  • I can't believe it's only two weeks away!!!!

Still need to finish the wedding day timeline, confirm details with photographer and officiant, and make final payment to venue! Next weekend all the bridesmaids are coming over to help assemble programs and escort cards.

We are SOOOO close to wedding day!!!
  • I can't believe how close it is! I still have to make the welcome bags and the favors, but I'm leaving that for early next week. It's crazy how fast the date came up considering it felt so far away not too long ago :)
  • I'm a 10/24 bride, but there aren't a lot of us so I'm hopping in on your thread 10/25s :)

Escort cards/final reception layout details are the main things, a few little things like printing coloring books for the kiddos and ordering lunch for the day of.  We aren't packing up our favors til the day before as they are cookies that we are picking up right before packing.  Other than that, obsessing about the weather and hoping the cold spell that is appearing on the 10-day forecast is wrong!

    So close!!
  • It's crazy that we're getting so close! We got our marriage license on Friday and seating arrangements and escort cards done this weekend, so I was excited to get those big things crossed off my list.

I still have to; confirm limo times, purchase groomsmen gifts, finish bridesmaid gifts, my last fitting is tomorrow, do programs, finalize the timeline, get the timeline to the bridal party, up the wine order for the reception, pack my bag for the week of our wedding since it's out of town for us, make final payments to the DJ and the venue, touch base with the cake bakery on design and delivery, buy a cake topper, confirm toasts, and finish the DJ planning form.

  • I discovered Saturday that I needed to find a whole new reception venue!

We still need to finalize the menu (FI and I are making the food with the help of my mother and a family friend), finish the kids bags, and finalize with the Army chaplain who is performing the ceremony.  Pre-marital counseling is this afternoon, then we can get the marriage license.
  • @Negativity What happened to your original venue? That sounds terrible! Good luck finding something in such a short amount of time! I hope everything turns out ok!

  • A ridiculous oversight, and the unpredictability of the weather here.  Luckily, we are able to use the fellowship hall at the church instead.  Which will actually save us money, since it already has tables and chairs, so we won't need to rent any.
  • 9 days!! :):):)

Today will be another unproductive day at work!
  • @liepo005 So true! I'm glad my boss is understanding about my wedding brain. It's like I get to work and suddenly everything I do for the wedding immediately pops into my head.
  • Less than a week left, ladies!
  • I can't believe it! Also, I really need to stop eating all of the things.

I envisions being so good with the lead up to the wedding. Instead I am stress eating and drinking more wine haha. oh well

  • @Fran1985 agreed! At this point, putting a corset in the back has basically paid for itself with the wine and stress eating! I'm really glad I don't have to worry about the dress fitting.

What's left on everyone's to do list this week?

I have to confirm limo times, put our food favors into boxes (later in the week so they don't go bad), pack my overnight bag for before the wedding and for the wedding night, confirm with the DJ, order lunch for Saturday, get my nails done, get all of our rings cleaned, make my lists of what to bring where, run the cake topper to the bakery, and make tip envelopes.

  • Happy wedding week ladies! Don't think you've been forgotten because the rest of us are done! Still excited for you all!
Don't let the stress get to you, just have FUN  and soak up every moment!

  • Leave it to me to get sick four days out!  Still getting things done, in spite of feeling like death warmed over.  Made the kids goody bags today, working on the flower girls wrap, baked a couple of cakes for my family that arrives in the morning, and made some soap for the craft shows I have next month!
  • I'm sorry that you're sick, I hope you get feeling better!
  • Have fun this weekend ladies! :)

  • Good luck ladies!!! See you on the other side very soon!!
  • Yes. Have fun and try not to stress. It all comes together and your day will be beautiful!
  • @mego2708 I'm trying, LOTS of vitamin c and I took a nap today that pretty much killed my entire afternoon, but I do feel better now, so I guess it was worth it. :)
  • I got a mani pedi today. Then FI and I ran a bunch of errands and picked up his tux. I put bridesmaids gifts together, and we got all our stuff together and packed our cars. We're leaving early tomorrow morning to get there, then we'll get the reception set up, then rehearsal and dinner...

I can't believe its wedding weekend!
  • My reception was a total shitshow, when my internet is back up I'll post about it. We did get some pretty pics though!
  • @Negativity I'm sorry that you had issues with your reception. I hope you were still able to enjoy your day!

The Best Man did a roast instead of a toast, but otherwise my wedding day was pretty perfect.

    How was everyone else's wedding?

  • The ceremony was beautiful, and aside from tripping on my dress, was perfect!

The deal with the reception was a buildup of things, and sheer stupidity on the part of the 'best man'.

I guess before I explain the whole thing I should say that #1 I'm the most laid back person ever, I don't get angry easily, and I certainly don't lose my shit.  #2 I cannot handle rude, disrespectful children, can't do it.

So, as soon as I show up at the church there is this little girl trying to tell me and everyone else what to do and how things will be.  Um..no, my wedding, my way.  I can't even figure out who the hell this kid belongs to, because I've never seen her before in my life.  I blow it off and get ready, ceremony was wonderful, then the pictures, once we go back inside for the reception the bossing and rudeness starts again, messing with my flower girls, trying to take ALL of the leftover goody bags I had made for the kids, attempting to get my one flower girl in trouble, just generally annoying everyone.  Right before the cake someone decided to be a jerk (I would bet money that it was that kid) decides to lock the bathroom door when they left it, mind you, I couldn't FIND the lock on this door, this was a malicious thing.  So, my stepdad handles the door and we go back to normal stuff.  Cake, garter, then the bouquet...I didn't mind the little girls being up there, because when I was a kid we could go up for the bouquet toss, but as soon as an adult touched the bouquet, we knew to get our mitts off it.  Oh no, my bridesmaids stepped back and I see the one adult left, and 3 kids wrestling for it, and tearing my beautiful bouquet to shreds.  My photographer steps in and takes it to give to the one adult left, and the 'best man' snatches it from her and gives it to the evil child and tells her to run. OMGWTF I grabbed it and told her no, instead of stopping, she yanks it out of my hand and runs into the sanctuary that my stepdad had just gotten all cleaned up.  That was it, I lost my shit.  I screamed and was banging on the table to get their attention, everyone stopped and just stared in shock.  I took the bouquet and threw it on a pew in the fellowship hall and said something about it going in the trash.  At that point, I just looked at everyone and said 'I'm done' and walked out.

The hall got cleaned up quick after that.  I cried, changed, and the whole time the 'best man' was sending the evil child (turns out she was his) to ask me if they could take all the food, all the cupcakes, and my damned wedding cake home with them!  Seriously?

It was awful, I cried the whole way home because I was so embarrassed at the way I had behaved.
  • @Negativity - Holy crap - I think anybody would have lost it!!

I am so sorry that happened! I'm not good at dealing with annoying little children either, and that definitely would have put me over the edge. I can't understand why anyone would let their child act that way, especially as a guest at a wedding. I'm starting to understand why child-free weddings are a growing trend.
Just try to remember the good/special moments you had and move on. There's nothing to do about it now. I'm sure when your pictures come in, you'll feel good seeing all the beautiful moments between you and your husband.
