Am I a jerk if I skip favours?

Re: Am I a jerk if I skip favours?

  • Honestly I cannot remember a single wedding favor that I have ever received, no lie I have tried hard and asked my mom if that's normal and she can't remember any either. It sounds like you are hosting properly as long as you send thank you cards to anyone sending gifts I think you are fine.
  • I like the idea of the strawberries.  I'm always frigging starving after a wedding, so it's great to have some sort of snack to take with me/come back to when we get to the hotel.
  • Could you do little favor bags stored in the party bus to give out at the end of the night? Like after it's over and people are heading back then a little bag with late night snack, Advil for next morning, etc?

We are using the party bus only for an after-dinner Strip tour (8-11 PM ish) - i don't think even our parents will be going back to the hotel afterwards, haha. And I'd still have to carry 20-something favours around to and from the ceremony (in two different limos) and to the restaurant. Vegas logistics are pretty crazy unless you're like the ladies who posted earlier about having part of their reception in a hotel suite.

I appreciate the idea, and it would certainly have worked if we'd had the same limos all day.

  • I am not a gambling/Vegas person, so tell me if I'm nuts or way off-base, but what if you gave everyone credit or some chips for a casino?
  •     We did a destination wedding and weren't doing any favors or welcome bags. or rather, we hadn't planned on it. About a week before our wedding it looked like it was going to be 89 degrees and our reception was outdoors, albeit shaded. Disney would have moved us indoor if it rained, but no such luck for sun. We over nighted a bunch of those little battery powered fans with the water mister in them. These sort of ended up as our favors.

It actually ended up being a perfect 79 degrees , but since we were going into the parks after (wedding was at Disneyland), they ended up being much used anyway. I know we always keep some on hand for baseball games , theme parks or anytime it might be hot and a small personal mister appreciated.
  • You are not a jerk. You are smart and saving your money :) I have never expected someone to leave me something.

I wondered this too. Maybe just a $5 chip or something for each guest (I know a lot of casinos have moved to weird card things so maybe this wouldn't work). But if so, could you put one with a cute note or something on the place settings at the restaurant. "We hope our love brings you luck"... Ok, that is super dorky, I know.
