Groom, Best Men, Father of the Bride - colors of suits?

DO they all wear the same color? I have a small party – Groom, Best Man, My son who will be second best man and my father. THANKS!!

Re: Groom, Best Men, Father of the Bride - colors of suits?

  • Your Father's attire is completely up to him.  Unless he is in the actual wedding party, meaning he is a GM or BM then he can wear whatever he wants because he is just a guest.

As for the wedding party, I think having them wear the same color would be best.

  • My dad and FIL were really confused that I told them i didn't want them wearing the same thing as the groomsmen (they were not in the wedding party).  They ended up in similar colored suits (navy) and different ties.
  • Our Bridal party and fathers all wore matching tux (fathers choose to wear tux's) but the fathers wore different color ties than the groomsmen

  • Typically the best men wear the same as the groom, but sometimes will have a different color shirt, vest or tie. Our wedding party wore the same suit/tux.  But my H wore a lavender shirt and a different tie.  The GM wore a white shirt with a purple tie.  My dad wanted to wear the same tux as the GM, so he did.  Fathers do not need to wear the same as the GM since they are technically not in the wedding party, but they definitely can if they would like to match/coordinate.

    What is a suit/tux?

  • The rule is that the wedding party must all wear the same level of formality.  If the groom wears a tux, so do the men in the wedding party.  If the groom wears a suit, so do the others.  They do not have to match in color, but I think it looks nice if they do.

  • It was the dark grey Vera Wang "Tuxedo" but since many people do not consider grey to be a tuxedo, I said suit/tux.

OK.  No, I don't think it was a tuxedo, either.
