Found mine...but now after having purchased it I am now having second thoughts. Lost 40 pounds and now I float in it. Maybe I will change my mind after alterations are done.

Thanks @island07b2b I was second guessing it for a bit wondering if sleeves were too matronly but people on TK have backed up my decision so I feel much better!

Are you going to end up checking out Vows? I was thinking of going there until I found mine, but it seems like a place worth checking out.
I have my gown.  I've just always been curious about how good of a deal Vows actually is. There's no salon in my area that I am aware of that follows Vows' pricing model but if there was I would have been there for sure.
Oh shoot I missed that! Your dress is awesome!

Attaching the URL because the picture is pretty large - I just fell in love with this neckline, and the dress looked really lovely...it was the second one I tried on at my first appointment, and I tried on a bunch afterwards, but couldn't stop thinking about this one!! Love it. I can't WAIT for FI to see it!

  • @rcher920 - That dress is awesome!  The neckline is beautiful.  I see why you love it so much.

  • Hi everyone! You all have such beautiful dresses! I went to a sample sale on a whim about 2 weeks after I got engaged. It was one of the first dresses I tried on and everyone at the salon (including other brides and their families) stopped and stared at me. I couldn't figure out why until they turned me around in the mirror and I started SOBBING! It was for sure my dress! I can't wait to wear it :-)

  • @Knottie7402568 - That's very pretty.  The bottom flounce is great.

  • I LOVE looking at all of these beautiful dresses!
  • I found my dress TODAY! WOO! It was off-the-rack designed by a local lady, so there aren't very many pictures of it save for the one I attached. I knew it was the one when I didn't want to take it off. I legitimately kind of want to put it on again and just wear it around the house (which might prove difficult, as my FI is sitting next to me).

I had tried on about two dozen dresses at four different salons. It was hard to picture the sample dresses at other stores as a.) the correct length (I'm 5'2") and b.) the correct shape without the clips making the straps and backs all wonky. But this one came in my size and will only need to be hemmed.

Ladies, we are going to rock the hell out of our dresses! You're all gorgeous!

  • @princessgracekelly -  That's great that you found your dress by a local designer.  You will be sure to be "one-of-a-kind" on your wedding day in it.  I love all of the buttons going down the back.

  • @island07b2b My MOH got a little worried about all those buttons. "Do they really button, or are they just decoration? Please tell me they're just decoration." (Underneath the butt, they're decoration.)

I bought my dress back in October. I never thought I'd end up with a ball gown as I am only 5 feet tall! But i just loved how it accentuated my small waist, and still managed to show off my figure. (Ive got hips and boobs. Wanted to accentuate boobs but hide the hips so I wasnt comfortable in mermaids).

My mum graciously offered to pay up to 1000$. Dress came in at 650$ so I added the sash. And its going to require alterations as its a tad big on me, and needs about a foot cut off the bottom!

Im in love with it. Very fun, twirly, swishy, comfortable and looks rocking with my teal converse shoes.

  • Everyone's dresses are GORGEOUS!  I got mine at a local boutique in New Orleans.  They design and make all the dresses there so I guess it is considered an original piece.  I did not know that was the deal, it was just the first and only place where I could get an appointment.  I was dead set on lace, but the consultant pulled out this satin dress and that wound up being "the one".  I went to one or two more places and tried on a few more dresses but nothing compared.  Please excuse the weird pictures, one of my bridesmaids had to sneak them - they don't allow photos in the dress until its paid for and fitted (which kind of sucks, but not a deal breaker obviously we are a sneaky group)!

Your dress looks like it would be twirly and swishy and so comfortable.  Very pretty.  Oh and when do we get to see your teal converse shoes?  :-)

Seriously beautiful gown.  I love the beading on the waist.  The fact that you have a one-of-a-kind is the icing on the cake.

Right now! ahhah. I love showing them off. They're such a pretty colour, Im so in love with them. I think my FMIL is a little thrown off by them, she's very traditional. But once I reminded her that no one would see them under the dress unless i showed them then she calmed down a bit.

We had talked about it, but they aren't really his style and I don't really care about co-esiveness just for the sake of a photo op. I've been wanting to wear converse for my wedding since I was a teen so it made sense for me, especially since I hate heels and I love rocking our height difference (I'm 5 feet, he's 6'1)

He wants to look like Daniel Craig as James bond. haha. So I told him to go for it!

I love the teal converse! Where did you get them? My FI does not like "tennis shoes" of any kind (unless they are his soccer shoes) and I want a pair of the converse in Teal or Aqua for the reception. Not sure with my dress is you will see them...photo from company website
