Show me some wedding bands!

I am having a bit of angst re: wedding bands and I'd appreciate some discussion and pretty pictures. Also my jeweler friend just had a baby and is a little preoccupied so I can't ask my local expert!

I love my engagement ring because it is nothing like what I'd have picked for myself. Simple white gold band, small stones, central ruby flanked with diamonds. However, I feel suffocated whenever I look at wedding bands to go with it. Conventional wisdom is that you should match the metals to keep wear down, but every time I look at what's available in white gold bands I feel disappointed. There are so many beautiful and unconventional bands out there, and I'm stuck with... this? I'm a huge tomboy, I don't want an elegant delicate little wisp of a ring. I am neither elegant nor delicate.  

Show me something that'll change my mind, or just show me pretty wedding bands.

Have you considered just a wider, plain white gold band? Then you don't have to worry about the metals rubbing and you have something a bit bolder that still matches. You don't have to get something thin/with stones if you don't want to.

You could also wear your engagement ring on your right hand following the wedding and get a big, bold wedding band like you seem to be interested in.

I have a very simple Bez Ambar pave band as my wedding ring.

Have you thought of a band like mine (below) but with rubies inlaid?  That would certainly bring an element of pizzazz.  While not tomboy-ish, it would be more unique than everything you see in girly bridal magazines.  And maybe even a little scandalous if you like to evoke a reaction (a red wedding band!)  While not scandalous to me (I almost asked for a peridot engagement ring), it's definitely more edgy.

I feel like such a contrarian, but the examples/solutions suggested are pretty much what have been making me sad. Plain gold? Yeah, that works, but it just... works. I'd opt for it if I didn't find any other solution at all, but it isn't particularly inspiring. The pavé bands are pretty, but again, that's the same thing I've been looking at and feeling disappointed with. I guess tomboy is too mild of a term, I am actually genderqueer and roll with a just feminine-of-center presentation because it's comfortable.

Also the right-hand ring thing is *not* for me. Even if I got used to "thing in the way on my dominant hand", there's no way to keep it from getting caught on my yarn when I'm knitting.

I have a ruby e-ring too! It's an odd shape so nothing really fits with it. I guess it's lucky that FI had it sized to my middle finger by mistake because now I can just stick it there.

We went with these rings. I don't know how big your hands are so I don't know if it would work for you but if you don't like the little feminine rings could you look at men's rings that might fit?

I have very conventional rings, but here they are with DH's tungsten ring.

Hmm. I would look into getting something custom done, but some rings that stuck out when browsing etsy.

While not all of these are white gold, you can always request white gold, except for vintage pieces obviously. But event the vintage ring I posted would be easy to recreate. 

For good measure, here's my set. H commissioned my jeweler friend for the engagement ring, and then I commissioned the wedding band separately with a local jeweler.

There are thousands upon thousands of unique handmade rings out there in white gold. Don't give up. And hell, search for men's bands if those are the ones that you're more drawn to. I hate when people ask me at the jewelry store if the wedding bands without stones are for men. It's a piece of metal, okay? It has no more gender than any other inanimate object. Wear what you like.
