Outdoor venue areas

edited January 2015 in Georgia-Atlanta
We are, like many, on a budget with the wedding.  We are both working parents, and although we we want a day to remember we are not going to be paying off for years to come.

We have found some great venues in our planning but some of the place we have found are cheap with the venue hire but then charge crazy money for the food.  What we are after is somewhere in the Atlanta area where we can have the ceremony and small reception.  Somewhere we can set out ourselves possibly.  Get the officiant in to marry us, then enjoy the reception, food and drink with our friends and family.

Is there anywhere that may just let us do that and not worry about spending a small fortune on food to feed half a dozen people!!

I hope someone may know the answer and we look forward to hearing from you,

Gogs & Jenny

  • Helen is a bit of a drive from Atlanta (about an hour and a half depending on where in the metro area you are) but they have tons of great locations that offer deals on venue and food.

Closer to Atlanta, you can try the Chattahoochee Nature Center, Piedmont Park, Lake Lanier, and an unlimited number of other parks in and around the metro area. I'd try different parks & rec departments to find a location you like, and then cater in from a small bbq or restaurant because it will be cheaper than a more traditional "wedding" caterer that upcharges for everything just because it's a wedding.

  • Could you let us know a little more about your budget, the number of people you plan to invite, etc? That will help us answer your question better.
