Ordering Bridesmaid dresses online!!!

Has anyone ordered from shirleysdress.com or lightinthebox.com for bridesmaid dresses? I was looking to try to save money for them and came across these sites. It seems the reviews aren't too bad but it scares me!!! Please let me know your experience as well as whether the color came out looking like the color on the site. Thanks!

Most of the reviews you are reading are fake.  They are posted by the employees of the company.

There is no free lunch.  You get what you pay for.  Never buy a pig in a poke.

NEVER buy a dress directly from China.  NEVER!!!!!  You have no quality control.  Those photos are not pictures of their actual work, but are stolen from the original designers website.  The dresses you and your bridesmaids receive may have little resemblance to the pictures.  Forget about the money back guarantees.  It won't happen.  Don't waste your girls' money on trash.

Try shopping at David's Bridal.  Their prices are reasonable.  Other good budget options include Target (Yes!) and other non-bridal shops.  There are also a few reputable ordering services that can save your ladies about 30%, but all sales are FINAL, and you must get your own alterations locally.  Pearl's Place is one of these.

  • If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I second CMG's recommendations. Also, New York & Company now carries a line of BM dresses. The ladies on this board are great at finding dress options, so if you give us an idea of what you're looking for and what price point, you may get some good suggestions.

Jjs House is terrible. Don't buy from them, ever.

  • Just a caveat...these places are ordering services, not shopping services!  You must have your dress selected, and know the size, color and style number.  Pearl's place does not like to order a dress for you unless you have actually tried it on in person somewhere, since all sales are final.  They will ask for your measurements and recommend a size, depending on the manufacturer.  There is no discount on Maggie Sottero.  Payment is by credit card in advance.

  • Any ideas for a blush pink short dress??
  • check out Azazie.com....they have a ton of colors and styles. I have picked out 5 styles for the girls to choose from and they are custom made for each girl. Ordered one for a party and loved it for myself

  • Another vote for target. That's where mine came from and they were inexpensive and looked about as good as you'd get from alfred or David's-plus free shipping over $50 and easy returns. They're all on sale right now too it looks like, and if you click in they have multiple colors for each:

  • Another vote for Target BM dresses.  I wanted short and chiffon and they have 7 styles in about 14 different colors to pick from and they're half the cost of similar dresses at David's Bridal.  (As a bonus, they're all on sale right now!)
