Taste Testing

Just curious when you got to try the food for the venue you chose. Was it at your initial consultation or closer to the wedding once you had already booked the venue? I am not familiar with the general timeline, but a prospective venue informed me that I won’t be able to do a taste test until 2 months prior to the wedding. Is that the industry norm?

I'm about five months out and my husband and I (already married) just recently scheduled our tasting.  I've never heard of 2 months prior though.  Most times, venues will advise that you once you book you could do a tasting at anytime, some times at a fee.

For our daughter's wedding, it was 4 of us, all local so we went about one month out.  We made the selections a few weeks before that.  For my son and DIL, we were not all local and were able to gather the troops two months ahead.
