BYOB vs. Catered Alcohol

I'm planning on doing a wedding in OBX at a house in Corolla. Since the house has set bars already there with coolers and a tap and pretty much everything a bartender would need, i think it may be doable to provide my own liquor, beer, and wine and then just hire a bartender. Has anyone done this before, and can they advise on how the process works? How much liquor should i get for about 50 people? Should I just buy the hard liquor and then let a catering company do the beer and wine?

I believe there are several companies in the Outer Banks who can provide bartenders, I'd check with your catering company on that. It will be cheaper for you to provide your own. There's several calculators out there with recommendations on how much to buy, and you can also check with whatever bartender you go with.

Kel gave great advice. We bought all of our beer and wine at Costco. Some states even sell liquor at Costco and the prices are so much better.
