Navy Lace Bridesmaid dress help

Hi , I am looking for  a little help. I am getting married in Maryland in October 2016. I am looking for a bridesmaid dress. I  need one with full lace, Navy blue or a dark navy blue. It can be short or long. My bridesmaids are all sizes.  And heres the little issue. I am trying my hardest to be a fair bride. I do not want to make my bridesmaids pay for a super expensive dress. so the budget of the dress needs to 200 and under. 

If y'all could give me any ideas to look or where to find one I would be very grateful!

Davids Bridal has plenty of options under $200.00.   I think "Marine" is the color choice that comes closest to Navy Blue in their standard colors, but they also have a few that are in "Navy".   Here are a few.

You could let them all pick out their own Navy lace dress, that way they can find one that fits their body type AND their budget! If everyone is in navy lace it would look cohesive and pretty, even if the dresses aren't exactly identical. And with bridesmaids of all sizes, this is usually the best option. It's nearly impossible to find a dress that would look good on a petite average-weight girl, AND a plus size girl, AND a super tall lanky girl. Does that make sense?

It's nice that you are keeping budget in mind, but $200 is still a lot for some people. Have you asked each of them their budget individually? Make sure they all are willing to pay up to $200 before you choose a dress in that price range.

Did you come up with that budget?  You should ask the bridesmaids each in private what their budget is and then shop within the lowest budget.

Just to clarify because based on the way you worded it you didn't ask each of your girls individually what their budget was.  Please ask them each individually.  If they all say $200, then great...but if any of them say less than that, you shouldn't go above that amount.

Absolutely beautiful on each girl!  I have all different shapes and sizes and everyone looks great in the dress and they love how the back makes their butt look, lol.

I had a really great experience with DB, which is rare but I think they are worth a look.  They all ordered in mid December and received the dress in early February.  The price was great and they often have discount codes you can find online to bring the price down.  I believe right now they have $20 off.  Totally worth it.  And you can have the dress delivered to your home.

Yes, you need to look in Spring of 2016. There is absolutely NO NEED or benefit to looking now! You shouldn't even ask your bridal party members earlier than about 9 months out. LOTS can change between now and then! Cool your jets sister.

It's $49.99, and fits great, is comfortable. It's not FULL lace, but the skirt is. I have this exact dress and I love it! It fits true to size as well.

lolo883: I am looking this early because I am in college and so are my bridesmaid so I want to find a dress so they don't have worry about it in our last year of college or graduate school. Having a bridesmaid dress early will take stress off my bridesmaids and they have asked to have there dresses early as possible.  That is why I am starting looking this early

I think you might just want to have them put the money aside, and buy next year.  Who knows if someone's weight will flucutate 20 months from now.  Maybe someone will get pregnant, or gain or lose 20 pounds, and they'll end up having to buy a new dress.

I am just trying to get an idea of whats out there and what i would like and what my bridesmaid would like. we all talked and agreed its a good idea to start looking early so we can find a style we all agree on. Because i don't want to make any of my bridesmaids uncomfortable by waiting the last minute. I also want to look incase some dresses go on sale and we all agreed to order a size larger than what they usually wear incase of any changes. I am bit of a people pleaser and I just want my bridesmaid to look as beautiful as I do on my special day.

But what's out there now and what's out there a year from now will be totally different. Hell, you might decide you hate lace year from now. And a year from now is still NOT last minute! Just give them some time to set aside $20/month and look again in a year. Seriously. You'll thank us for it.

You have your own opinion and given advice, and I appreciate that But I am going to do what I feel is right for myself and my bridal party. I posted on here looking for help from other brides to find bridesmaid dresses, that's it. I shouldn't have to explain myself or my bridesmaids situation. I really do not appreciate you telling me I am making a big mistake. I don't think you would like it if someone was telling you that something your doing with your wedding was a big mistake, even if they are trying to help no bride wants to hear she is making a huge mistake about her planning her wedding.

You know what you should hate more than HEARING you're making a big mistake on your wedding? Actually making a big mistake on your wedding. Do you realize how many people come here saying "help, I made this decision WAY TOO EARLY and now I changed my mind, how do I do it?" LOTS.

I didn't make any big mistakes at my wedding because I was open minded to listening to other posters' advice.

The good part is, you haven't made the mistake yet. So while hearing that you're making a wedding-planning mistake sucks, you haven't actually made it yet. So don't feel bad. I have said i appreciate the advice more than once and I mean that. But as i said before I am just looking for helping finding what I am looking for. I don't plan on having my bridesmaids buy there dress until next year. But because I know who I am. I need to look at everything early because I can get over whelmed. Hence why I am starting early.  I just don't appreciate being told that i am making a huge mistake or i will be that bride who will make a mistake.

Well dresses that are available now will not still be for sale next summer. So all this work is for nothing.

Most dresses you find right now will not still be in stock next year, so you're probably wasting your time. But... go for it.

But like, you kind of are. 

I mean, it's great that you aren't having them BUY the dresses right now, because that is just silly. But even looking at/picking a dress right now is a bad idea.

See, what's likely to happen is this: You and BMs find a great dress(es). You love the dress. The dress is perfect. A year from now, the dress is no longer available and you are upset.

OP, I started looking for navy bridesmaid dresses early too - over a year before the wedding. I was pinning my favorites. When I finally shared the board with my bridesmaids, almost all of the dresses were out of stock.

If you're looking for your own sanity and to give your girls an idea of what is out there, carry on. It made me feel in control and was helpful for my girls too, since a lot of the dresses appeared on discount sites because they were from a previous season. BUT in terms of actually picking THE dress - I would follow the other posters' advice and wait before telling the girls to purchase.

Some of the ladies here are already married or very close to their wedding date, so they've already been through this process. If they're telling you, OP, that you are making a mistake, it's cuz they KNOW about this. 

One of my BMs went online and picked her dress (I let them all choose their own dress) about 6 months ago but wasn't ready to buy yet. Now that my wedding is about 2 months away, she went back online and guess what? The dress isn't available anymore. She was in a total panic trying to find another dress within her budget cuz she shopped around way too soon. 

Another one of my BMs bought her dress right off the bat and then her weight changed. So she had to buy another dress. Again, in a total panic, and had to spend twice the money. 

I had some dresses in mind when I first got engaged because I got bored and browsed online. At that point my wedding was a year and a half away. I saved the photos I loved the most, and guess what? I hate all those styles now. Trends change, different styles come out, you change your mind about stuff. Everything I chose for my wedding a year and a half early pretty much got changed except for my date and my venue. I wasted time and stressed myself out and did twice the work for nothing. 

My friend's BMs all ordered their dresses too soon and ALL of them had gained weight by the time they needed to get the dresses altered. NONE of their dresses fit. Total panic. 

The ladies here are trying to save you from any of these scenarios and more. A year from now, you will have to re-do the whole searching process, so just wait. Just. Wait.

There's no problem with looking, but everyone is right in saying that the dresses will most likely not be available next year.  I wore a lace dress (as I mentioned earlier) from David's Bridal and that dress is no longer available, but they came out with similar dresses, some even more beautiful than the one I wore.  Just figure out a style you like, and know the budget for your bridesmaids.  I say you can start shopping with your bridal party around November.  David' bridal introduces new styles in January, and they seem to have a lot of lacey options.  I took my girls shopping in December and I'm getting married this November.  Had I waiting till January, I would have had a bunch more options, but overall I'm still in love with the dress we picked out together.  Also, make sure you order your dress first.  If you haven't done that yet you shouldn't even be worrying about bridesmaid dresses.  I know a long engagement can be difficult because sites like the knot put wedding planning at the front of your mind- but take everything one step at a time.  Breathe.  Enjoy the engagement!
