disney themed wedding

my fiancé and I wanted to get married in Disney World but that is way over out budget. anyone have any ideas besides centerpieces of how to incorporate Disney without being tacky or childish?

Re: disney themed wedding

  • Instead of using numbers for table designations, your tables could be Disney movies or characters. They also make Disney inspired invitations. Our wedding is not a Disney theme, but we are using Cinderella inspired invitations. It's got her coach and castle and it's very beautiful color lavender.

I don't recommend skipping numbers all together. You could do numbers and Disney movies. I went to a wedding that used dog breeds instead of table numbers to incorporate the couple's love of dogs. It took me a long time of wandering around to find my seat. Numbers would have been helpful.
  • Honestly, Google and Pinterest are your friends. Google or search on Pinterest "Disney wedding inspiration" or "Disney-themed wedding" and you'll get a zillion ideas. Buzzfeed even has one of their listicles about it

Beyond that, I think ... Alfred Angelo? is the designer that has a line of Disney wedding gowns?

I also seem to remember a bride posting a DIY of a rose inside a glass bell, similar to the one in Beauty and the Beast, a while back  It was very pretty as I recall.

  • I mean Disney is inherently a collection of children's movies, so I don't know that you can avoid it being somewhat childish.

So go for subtle, not cartoon-y.

    Like use this:

Do we have a tacky decor thread? Your "Not That"'s should fit the bill....

  • One thing to remember is that Disney is HEAVILY copyrighted so when talking with vendors they may very well turn down some Disney specific designs because their company reputation precedes them for not being afraid to sue.

Next, have you actually checked out pricing with Disney since it is all-inclusive down to the last detail?  You may outwardly be getting sticker shock, but at the end of the day it very well may be incredibly affordable compared to breaking down the pricing into the individual vendors to the point that the only real stress you have is showing up with your dress on time.

  • Etsy is also another great place to look for items for Disney theme that may not be tacky or childish.

Even if you don't purchase from the specific vendors you can get great idea inspirations from them.

One of me favorite's for cake toppers is Bee3Dgifts. (see Beauty and Beast topper attached).

  • I am also doing a Disney themed wedding... The ceremony is fairytale and the reception is more fun Disney movie and ride type stuff. Our guest book is Disney postcards from their art collection and I bought a mailbox and painted it like in the movie UP. We are using our escort cards as fastpasses, I am making the designs a little different to incorporate rides that don't have fastpasses at Disneyland. My dress is from the Disney Alfred Angelo collection and the bottom of my shoes say I Do in a Disney style decal. My girls are carrying lanterns with fairy lights for the fairytale touch and our aisle runner says happily ever after ( on Amazon for 15 dollars). Our ceremony music is Disney music (once upon a dream is what I'm walking down to) And my cake is a mad hatter style with a sleeping beauty cake topper (Lennox makes a lot of different ones).. Etsy has a lot of ideas if you search Disney Weddings, and so does Pinterest.
  • I saw a wedding on Pinterest I believe that had different classic Disney attractions instead of table numbers, which would be great if you wanted to do WDW wedding.  They make cast iron cars of the ride cars for many of the attractions that you could use for centerpieces if you can find them.  I'm not sure where they sell them, but my parents have a bunch which is how I know they exist.  I'm sure they're online somewhere.

  • A few quick googles found this:  http://www.ebay.com/bhp/disneyana-diecast, so they're out there.
