@alpacina omg that's horrible!! Why would they let her back in?? Won't your brother be there on Christmas? Can they be in the same room together? I have SO MANY QUESTIONS.

@speakeasy14 - My SIL said thank you as they were leaving their reception.  My brother said thank you in an email to everybody involved in the wedding telling us where to be when.  I don't know if those qualify as a "huge thank you," but it was something.

How was your weekend?
Good. Saturday I got up & brought my car in for new tires. $824 later, she has new shoes, new rear shocks, an alignment, and refreshed power steering. UGH. Merry Christmas & Happy Bonus to me! 

While my car was getting fixed, H & I went to Target to finish up Christmas shopping, and then to Home Depot to get a few things for the house. We wandered around HD for a while, talking about different things we'd like to do. It was fun! We grabbed lunch and then headed home. H tried to fix our outside light (we can't get it to work, despite flipping every possible switch we can find, and replacing the sensor), and I wrapped gifts for my family. We had a Home Chef meal and watched Netflix.

Yesterday I got up & made a HC breakfast - strawberry shortcake french toast (YUM), we both cleaned up around the house (H did the upstairs bathroom, thank goodness. Bathrooms are my least favorite), ordered wings and watched the Patriots, and then finished up Making a Murderer.

Is there one thing you really hope to get for Christmas?
I got the winter coat I wanted (no school logo, YAY!), and I'm 100% sure H got me the winter boots I asked for. I'm more excited to give my parents their gifts - a new backgammon board and a set of Corinthian Bells windchimes!

If you could re-live one day from this past year, which one would it be?
My wedding day, 100%.

I'm still getting over my cold. Luckily I have off today.  I have to run over to the mall in a few minutes too.  My goal is the mall, laundry and making chocolate meringues.  Did anyone else watch the Miss Universe Pageant? H & I only watched the end but wow so awkward.

@untouchablets - My brother and her are dating again. The divorce was such a shit show, and then next thing I know I hear my parents are watching their kids so they can have a weekend away. . . *puke*

My brother asked to bring her when he was invited to my mom's party, and my mom said yes. My mom thinks kissing her ass is the only way to keep their kids in her life, which is true if they're in a relationship. But we got my brother and his kids back in our lives BECAUSE of the divorce. If he's dating her again, I'm not going to bother trying to form some kind of attachment because I'm sure he'll be isolating himself again soon enough. He's ashamed because he knows we hate her, and he takes it out on his family instead of doing right for himself.

@labro - That hat!  Those eyelashes!  That face!  I'm in love with Callie.  I'm sorry your H had such a busy work weekend though.

@cocobellaf - I'm terrible and "wrap" gifts by bagging them 90% of the time.  Lazy but effective.

@speakeasy14 - Packing tape to wrap a gift is an awesome idea....evil but awesome.  

@wink0erin - I'm sorry you don't have Thursday off anymore, that sucks.  

@alpacina - What did you like better (the cevechie or the octopus)?  Your ex-SIL sounds like a piece of work and I really wish she wasn't coming on Christmas.  Hugs to you....and lots and lots of wine. 

@GoldenPenguin - I'm glad your car is fixed and safe but, ugh, the sticker shock is NOT fun.

I'm late this morning...had a routine OB check this morning.  Everything is good, baby's heartbeat is great and I got some blood drawn for genetic tests for the baby.  It isn't the test I thought I was getting (and my OB told me originally that I was going to get...she thought I turned "high risk" 35 this year not 34), which is a bummer because that test is more sensitive and accurate (and my insurance won't cover it because I'm not 35) but between the test I got and the "big" 18-20 week ultrasound we should be in good shape.  I'm just hoping all is normal.  The "big" ultrasound is hopefully going to be scheduled for mid-January.  Three and a half short weeks!!!

This weekend I did most of my Christmas shopping (thank goodness).  Only present I couldn't get was H's.  I was waiting for my airline miles to post ...now that they posted the flight is no longer available.  I'm really irritated.  I'm looking into other options now but that flight was the only option for the trip I had planned for him.  I don't want to post my plans since H is sneaky and knows I post here.  

Sunday we cleaned out our fridge from top to bottom, put together the stroller we bought (its nice) and unpacked the infant car seat we bought.  We also did grocery shopping and I cooked for the week.  Pretty productive all around.

T&P, please.  There have been 2 attacks in Afghanistan tonight, one of which hit very close to BF.  I think he's okay, but the situation is developing and I just don't know.

Is there one thing you really hope to get for Christmas?
Not particularly.  I want my house to be more organized, does that count?  I would love a pregnancy pillow and if I don't get one I may end up buying one myself...I'm having a hard time getting comfortable in bed already (my back hurts a bit and my belly is always uncomfortable) and that doesn't bode well for the future since I'm still so early on.  

If you could re-live one day from this past year, which one would it be?
From this past year?  Our last full day in Ixtapa, Mexico.

LOL @labro @cu97tiger @alpacina - I'll be AWing the hopefully good news first here.  I can't wait to find out if its a boy or a girl...I really don't care either way but I'm still excited.  

As to baby items, I'm only buying the stroller, infant car seat and the crib then I'm done, promise.

Oh, in other "good news", I messed up my BC big time this weekend, along with lots of unprotected intercourse, so if I were to get accidentally pregnant now would be the time. I'll know in a week. Wish me luck.

@minskat30 I just bought THIS body pillow for my sister.  She kept saying that a regular body pillow wasn't helping and this one is smaller than the other pregnancy pillows so if you toss and turn a lot it is easier to take with you.  It's arriving Wednesday, so depending what she says maybe you'll be getting one for New Years

@alpacina that is ridiculous.  Did she end the restraining order so they could be together again? My mom would probably do the same for the sake of the kids. Keeping my fingers crossed she doesn't show up and ruin Christmas.  Those poor kids though

So I just asked corporate HR about fmla/maternity leave and he is telling me that it's 100% unpaid and that I have to use all my vacation time first. I'm a little caught off guard because I could have sworn that I asked about it when I was first hired and they told me it was paid for 6 weeks then unpaid for 6 weeks. We don't freaking have HR in my office so I have to email with them, so I'm waiting for a response back but that is pretty shitty if they really aren't going to pay ANYTHING.
