Questions about what the groom should be wearing?

Re: Questions about what the groom should be wearing?

  • To bowtie, or not to bowtie? That is my question. Are there hard and fast rules, or simply "guidelines"? We're already doing a bit of a mismatched groomsman thing, but wasn't sure if tie variations should be on the table or if we should stick to all bowties or all neckties.

  • I have the same question!  My FI and the groomsmen will be wearing tuxs, but my FI isn't a huge fan of bowties.  I'd personally prefer a bowtie since it's a little more traditional with a tux, but the decision is up to him.  Are there any rules around bowtie vs. necktie when wearing a tux?  Also, to what extent (and in what ways) can a groom's tux vary from the rest of the groomsmen?
  • Should the groom match or be different from the groomsmen. FH decided to be different! Groomsmen wearing grey and he is wearing navy. All in bowties.
