Good news- some vendors do care

We always see vendors that push for etiquette errors in their financial favor- such as a cash bar over a dry wedding.

Well my mom is a Caribbean expert travel agent and she just had a girl walk in looking to book a destination wedding, but mentioned they were going to do "the courthouse thing" here first. My mom informed her that many of hotels in Jamaica & DR actually strictly look down on this. They will only refer to it as your symbolic ceremony, not your wedding, and they charge almost double to "perform" it. They would rather you get married there, or just come there on your honeymoon, and you'll be paying a penalty otherwise. YESSSSSSSSSS!!

Re: Good news- some vendors do care

  • The person that showed me around my venue cared. My mom has some not so etiquette approved suggestions and you could tell she was attempting to nicely steer her away before I opened my mouth and shut it down. (No mom, I love you but switching to a cash bar after dinner is rude AF).
